'THE PATTER OF TINY FEET'

Dear is the patter of tiny feet
Which falls on my ears with the morning light:
Tiny feet with their mighty clatter,
Tiny tongues with their ceaseless chatter—
Musical touches—the world how bright!
Past is the patter of tiny feet,
But my heart still hears, with each morning's light,
Tiny feet with their mighty clatter,
Tiny tongues with their ceaseless chatter—
Such muffled echoes—and day is night!
