BOURNE (THOMAS), bookseller in London; Bedlam [i.e., Bethlehem Hospital], 1628-71. Took up his freedom January 15th, 1623. [Arber, iii. 685.] Smyth in his Obituary, p. 91 thus records the death of this bookseller "19 June 1671. Thomas Bourne bookseller at Bedlam (my old acquaintance) died hora 8 pt merid.; his corps carried from Lorimer's Hall to Bottol. Bishopsgate, Thurs., June 22, and there buried, with the service of the common prayer, though he died a recusant" The only book in which his name has been found is an edition of the Articles of Visitation of the Bishop of Chichester, in the year 1628. [b.m. 5155, c. 13.]
BOWDEN (WILLIAM), bookseller (?) in London, 1641. His name occurs in the imprints to several political pamphlets of the year 1641; but none of them give his address [E. 181 (1).]
BOWEN (PENYELL), bookseller (?) in London. Only known from the record of his death in Smyth's Obituary, p. 91. "Penyall Bowen, stationer, once apprentice to Octavian Pulleyn, sen., bookseller in St. Paul's Churchyard, dying of a veyne broken was buried at St. Butolph's without Aldersgate."

BOWMAN (FRANCIS), bookseller and printer (?) in Oxford and London, 1634-47. Published books in Oxford between 1634 and 1640. He is believed to have left Oxford about the year 1641. Several books are found printed in London in 1647 by F. B. These initials are found in G. Pretis' Oranta the Cyprian Virgin; Thomas Stanley's Poems and Translations, and also in Sir Robert Stapylton's Musaeus or the loves of Hero and Leander. The copyright of this last work belonged in the first place to Henry Hall, printer at Oxford, and was transferred by him on March 4th, 16467, to Humphrey Moseley. There is no other printer or bookseller in London at that date to whose name the initials apply, and the probability is that the printer of these books was Francis Bowman. [F. BOWMAN (THOMAS), bookseller (?) of Oxford, 1664. Had a son, Thomas Bowman. Mentioned in a lease of property in Oxfordshire, dated 1664.
