Amount of No. of Revenue. Officers.
The Exciſe is to the largeſt amount: The nett produce of that Revenue paid into the Exchequer in 1808, and the number of officers employed in it of all deſcriptions, excluſive of 184 common ſeamen and Boatmen, were £ 22,784,000 5,043
In 1783 5,322,000 4,983
Increaſe within the period £ 17,462,000 60

Do, in the three years, to 1788 392,300
    Profit to the revenue 174,000
The duties were partially transferred to the Exciſe in 1789.
