(4) - And if the (aid Archbiihop or Guardian, after the Receipt of the faid Writ, refufe or deny to grant fuch- Licences, Faculties or Difpenfations, as fnall be enjoined him by Virtue of the faid Writ, and fhew and prove before your -Majefty, your Heirs cr Succeflbrs, no juft or reafonable Caufe why he-fhould doib; then the faid Archbifhop or Guardian that fhall fo refufe to put this Aft in Execution according to the faid' Writ of Injunction, fhall fuffer, lofe and forfeit to your Highnefs, your Heirs and Succeflbrs, fuch Pain ' and Penalty as fhalj be limited and expreffed in the faid Writ of Injunction. (5) And over that, it fhall be lawful to your Highnefs, your Heirs and Succeflbrs, for every fuch Default and Wilfulnefs of the faid Archbifhop or Guardian for the Time being, to give Power and Authority, by Commiffion under your Great Seal, to two fuch Spiritual Prelates or Perfons, to be named by your Highnefs, your Heirs or Suc- ceflbrs, as will do and grant fuch Licences, Faculties and Difpenfations, refufed or denied to be granted by the faid Archbifhop or Guardian in Contempt of this Aft. 0;ij>enfations XVIII. And be it further enacted by Authority aforefaid, That the faid two Spiritual Prelates or Perfons, ITkifal^re to whom in fuch Cafes any fuch Commiffion fhall be direfted, fhall have Power and Authority to grant l/ie". "" ' every fuch Licence, Faculty, Difpenfation, Inftrument and other Writings, fo refufed to be granted by the laid Archbifhop or Guardian for the Time being, by any Inftrument under their Seals, taking like Fees and Charges for the fame as is before rehearfed, and not above, under the Pains afore remembred. (2) And that every fuch Licence, Faculty and Difpenfation fo granted for any Cafes or Matters, whereunto any Confirmation under the King's Great Seal is appointed by this Acl, to be had in Manner and Form above declared, fhall be had and obtained accordingly. (3) And fuch Licences and Confirmation fhall be had for like Fees and Charges as they are above fpecified, and not above, under the Pains abovementioned. (4) And that every fuch Licence, Faculty, Difpenfation and other Writing, to be granted by the faid Pre- lates or Perfons to be affigned by the King's Highnefs, his Heirs and Succeflbrs, as is afore faid, fhall be of as good Value, Strength and Effeft, and as beneficial and profitable to the Perfons procuring the fame, as if they had been made, granted and obtained under the Name and Seal of the faid Archbiihop. Provided always, That this Aft, nor any Thing or Things therein contained, fhall be hereafter not meaiTto ° i ntei 'preted or expounded, that your Grace, your Nobles and Subjects intend by the fame to decline or vary vary from the from the Congregation of Chrift's Church in any Things concerning the very Articles of the Cathoiicic Abides of the Faith of Chrifrendom, or in any other Things declared by holy Scripture and the Word of God, neceflary Otholick Faith for your and their Salvations, (2) but only to make an Ordinance by Policies neceflary and convenient of Chnftendom. to reprefs Vice, and for good Confervation of this Realm in Peace, Unity and Tranquillity, from Ravin and_ Spoil, infuing much the old antient Cuftoms of this Realm in that Behalf; not minding to feek for any Relief, Succours or Remedies for any worldly Things and human Laws, in any Caufe of Necefiitj^, but within this Realm at the Hands of your Highnefs, your Heirs and Succeflbrs, Kings of this Realm, which have and ought to have an Imperial Power and Authority in the fame, and not obliged in any worldly Cau- fes to any other Superior. ' or mentioned in the faid Act; (2) nor that this Act, nor any Thing to be done by Authority thereof, fhall not be taken, expounded or interpreted to give Licence to any Perfon or Perfons to have any more Num- ber of Benefices than is limited in the faid Aft; (3) and that the fame Act for Pluralities and Non-refiden- ces of Benefices, and every Thing therein contained, fhall ftand good and effectual in all Intents, accor- ding to the true Meaning thereof; any Thing in this prefent Act, or any Licence or Difpenfation to be had by Authority thereof, in any wife notwithftanding.
