For Remedy whereof, it may pleafe the King's Majefty, with the Advice of his] • ' Temporal, and the Commons in this prcfent Parliament aflemblcd, That it may be cflahlifhcd and en- ; by the Authority of the fame, That no fuch Pcrfon or Perfons at any Time after the fi next coming, fhall make any Barley Malt (the Months of June, July and Auguji only excepted) Drjinj. Drying of the ("aid Malt, three Weeks at the leaft: (2) And that no fuch P< rfon or Perfons at any Time within the faid Months of June x "July and Auguji, fliall make any Barley Malt, except the fame nave in and fufficient Drying, the Time and Space of lev nteen Days at the leaft, under hi li 'I iine and Times the laid Malt cannot be well and perfectly made, nor wholfom for Body; (3) Upon Pain to forfeit and lofe for every Quarter of Malt which fliall be made by any or Perfons, contrary to the Tenor, Purport and true Meaning of this Act, two Shillings. And be it alfo further cnadtcd by the Authority aforefaid, That if any Perfon or Perfons after the Malt fliall be lad Day of January next coming fliall put to Sale any Malt which fliall not be fufficiently and well trod- well rroddm, 1 ubbed and well fanned, whereby there may be conveniently fanned out of one Quarter thereof half a mMed »nd /an. of Duft or more ; That then the Perfon fo putting the fame to Sale fliall forefeit and lofe for every ° 1 Quarter fo put to Sale, twenty Pence. (2) The Moiety of all which Forfeitures to be _to the King our 7 Sovereign Lord ; and the other Moiety thereof to the Party that will fue for the fame by Action of Debt, Bill, Plaint or Information in any of the King's Courts, wherein no Protection, Wager of Law or Lftoin, ' nor Injunction fliall be admitted or allowed. IV. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That the Juftices of Peace in every of their Juices, Stew- Seflions, and alfo the Steward in every Leet, fliall have full Power and Authority by Vertue of this Act, ^office"' of iquirc, hear and determine, as well by Prefentment of twelve Men, as by Accufation or Information Towns fliall pu- of two honeft Witneffes, of, for and upon all and every the Offences and Forfeitures aforefaid, as well for nifh Offenders, the King as for the Party that fliall fue, procure or caufe the fame to be prefented as is before faid. •(2) And that the Bailiffs and Conftables of every Borough or Market- Town, or other Town where any jiuch Malt fliall be made or put to Sale, fliall have full Power and Authority from Time to Time to view, fearch and furvey all fuch Malt as fliall be made or put to Sale within any of the faid Towns : (3) And if any of them fliall thereupon find any Malt fo put to Sale, being evil made or mingled with evil Malt, 'contrary to the Tenure and true Meaning of this prefent Act; that then the faid Bailiff or Conftable fo finding any fuch Malt evil made or mingled as is aforefaid, with the Advice of one Juftice of Peace within the fame Shire, fliall caufe the fame to be fold to fuch Perfon or Perfons, and at fuch a reafonable Price or Prices, and under the common Price of the Market, as to his Difcretion fhall feem neceffary and ' expedient. V. Provided alway, and be it alfo enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That this Act, nor any Thing Malt made for a therein contained, fhallextend to the Making of Malt for any Man's own Provifion for his own H-iufe or Fa- Man ' s own Pro. mily, neither to charge or be prejudicial to any Perfon or Perfons, for or concerning any of the Offences or n " Forfeitures aforefaid ; except he or they fo offending fhall happen to be fued, prefented and accufed for the fame, in Manner and Form aforefaid, within one Year next after any fuch Offence or Offences to be done or committed; any Thing in this prefent Act contained to the contrary notwithftanding. No Tanner fhall put any tanned Leather to Sale (faving Calves Skins) tanned and mixed with Afhen Bark, Tapworth, Meal or Culver Dung, and unlets it hath lien in the Tan-ozes fufficiently wrought three Quarters of the Year at leaft : Nor fliall overburn with Lime anv Hides, nor fhall fet his Fats in Tan-hills, or fhall put any hot Liquor or Ozes in the Fats wherein Hides fhall be put to tanning: Or fliall practife any other Way for the over fpeedy Tanning of Hides, or whereby they fliall be burned or fcalled : Or fliall cut any Hide of Steer or Cow to make Clout-Leather thereof: Or fhall tan any Sheep Shins: Upon Pain to forfeit the fame Leather, &c. and vj. s. viij. d. for every Hide.
