Provided always, and be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That this Act, or any Thing therein contained, (hall not ill any wife extend to abrogate and take away the Authority, Jurisdiction, Power and Punifhments of the Ecclefiaftical Laws, now Standing and remaining in their Porce, of or for the Punifhment of any the Offences and Mifdemeanours aforefaid, but that the Authority, Power, Juris- dictions and Punifhments of the faid Ecclefiaftical Laws of and for any of the Offences and Mifdemeanours aforefaid flia.ll Hand in full Power and Strength, and to be ufed and exercifed in all and in every Thing, as though this Act had never been had and made ; this prefent Act, or any Thing therein contained to the contrary thereof in any wife notwithstanding. XI, Provided always, and be it enacted, That whatfoever Perfon offending in the Premifles, fhall for any of the Offences afore recited receive Punifhment of the Ordinary, having a Teftimonial thereof under the faid Ordinary's Seal, ihall not for the fame Offence eftfoons be convicted before the Juftice: (1) And in likewife receiving for the faid Offences Punifhment: by the Juftice, he fhall not for the fame Offence eftfoons receive Punifhment of the Ordinary ; any Thing in this Act to the contrary notwithstanding. An Act touching certain Writings made from the fixth of July laft pad, to the firft Day of Auguft next enfuing. HERE it hath pleafed Almighty God the fixth Day of July laft pafl to call out of this tranfitory Life unto his Mercy our late Sovereign Lord King Edward the Sixth, by and immediately after whofe Deceafe the Imperial Crown of this Realm, with all Dignities, Dominions, Honours, Preemi- nences, Prerogatives, Stiles, Authorities and Jurisdictions, to the fame united, annexed or belonging, did not only defcend, remain and come unto our 1110ft dread Sovereign Lady the Queen's Majefty, bat alfo the fame was then immediately and lawfully invefted, deemed and adjudged in her Highnefs moft Royal Perfon, by the due Courfe of Inheritance, and by the Laws and Statutes of this Realm : ' II. Neverthelefs the fame her Highnefs moft lawful Poffeffion was ibr a Time diflurbed and difquieted by the traiterous Rebellion and Ufurpation of the Lady Jane Dudley, Wife unto Guilford Dudley, Efq; otherwife called the Lady Jane Grey, and other her Complices, during the Time of the which faid Rebel- lion and Ufurpation, divers Eftatutes, Recognifances, Indentures, Obligations, Acquittances, Grants, Patents, Evidences and other Writings, were made and devifed between and to fundry of the Subjects of this Realm, whereupon divers Questions, Suits and Doubts may hereafter arife, grow and enfue to many of the Queen's Highnefs true loving Subjects : For the Avoiding of all which Ambiguities and Doubts which by Reafon thereof may be Stirred and moved, C3V.' C A P. V. An Act for the Limitation of Prescription in certain Cafes. HE R E at a Parliament holden at Wejlmlnjler the twenty-fourth Day of July in the thirty-Second Year of the Reign of the late King of famous Memory, King Henry the Eighth, it was enacted, That no Manner of Perfon or Perfons Should from thenceforth fue, have or maintain any Writ of Right, or make any Prescription, Title or Claim of, to or for any Manors, Lands, Tenements, Rents, Annui- ties, Commons, Penfions, Portions, Corrodies or other Hereditaments of the Poffeffion of his or their Anceftor or Predeceffor, and declare and alledge any further Seifin or PoSTeffion of his or their Anceftor or Predeceffor, but only of the Seifin or Poffeffion of his Anceftor or Predeceffor which hath been, or then was or fhall be, feifed of the faid Manors, Lands, Tenements, Rents, Annuities, Commons, Penfions, Portions, Corrodies or other Hereditaments within threefcore Years next before the Tefte of the fame Writ, or next before the faid Prefcription, Title or Claim, fued, commenced, brought, made or had after the making of the fame Act : ' ll. And where alfo it was further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, amongft other Things, That no Perfon or Perfons Should after that make any Avowry or Cognifance for any Rent, Suit or Service, or alledge any Seifin of any Rent, Suit or Service, in the fame Avowry or Cognifance, in the Poffeffion of his or their Anceftors or Predeceffor or Predeceffors, or in his own Poffeffion, or in the Poffeffion of any other whofe Efta;e he Should after that pretend or claim to have, above fifty Years next before the making of the faid Avowry or Cognifance. ' III. And where by the fame Act it was alfo further enacted amongft other Things, That if any Perfon or Perfons at any Time after that, did fue any of the faid Actions or Writs for any Manors, Lands, Te- nements or other Hereditaments, or make any Avowry, Cognifance, Prefcription, Title or Claim of or for any Rent, Suit, Service or other Hereditaments, and could not prove that he or they, or his or their Anceftors or Predeceffors were in actual Poffeffion and Seifin of and in the fame Manors, Lands, Tene- ments, Rents, Suits, Services, Annuities, Commons, Penfions, Portions, Corrodies or otherHeredi- taments, at any Time or Times within the Years before limited and appointed in the fame Act, in Man- ner and Form as is aforefaid; (2) that if the fame Seifin were traverfed or denied by the Party Plaintiff, Demandant or Avowant, or by the Party Tenant or Defendant, that then and after fuch Trial therein had, all and every fuch Perfon and Perfons and their Heirs 5 Should from thenceforth be utterly barred for ' ever
