An Aft for appropriating three thoufand feven hundred Pounds weekly, out of certain Branches of Excife, for publick Ufes, and for making a Provifion for the Service of his Majefty's Houlhold and Family, and other his neceffary Occafions. WHEREAS by an Act of Parliament made and pafled in the ninth Year of his Majefty's Reign, intituled. An ASt for granting to bis Majejiy a further Suhftdy of Tunnage and Poundage, towards 9'^- %• ^- '■31 raiflng the yearly Sum of feven hundred thoufand Pounds, for the Service of his Majejiys Houjhold, and other Ufes therein mentioned, during his Majefiys Life, the yearly Sum of feven hundred thoufand Pounds was intended to be fupplied to his Majefty, for the Service of his Houfhold and Family, and for other his neceflary Expences and Occafions, out of the Hereditary Rates and Duties of Excife upon Beer, Ale, and other Liquors, which were granted to the Crown in the twelfth Year of the Reign of King Charles the fecond, and out of the Rates and Duties of Excife on Beer, Ale, and other Liquors, i^Car. z. c. 23, payable for the Term of his Majefty's Life, by an Adt of Parliament made and paffed in the fecond ^w. &M.ff. i. Year of the Reign of his Majelty and the late Queen of Bleffed Memory, and out of the Revenue of c. 3, the General Letter Office, or Poft Office, or the Office of the Poftmafter General, and out of the fmall Branches of his Majefty's Revenues herein after mentioned and exprefied (that is to fay) The firft Fruits and tenths of the Clergy; the Fines for Writs of Covenant and Writs of Entry, payable in the Alienation Office ; the Poll Fines ; the Revenue of the Wine Licences ; the Monies arifing by the She- riffs Prefers and Compofitions in the Exchequer, and by the Seizures of uncuftomed and prohibited Goods ; the Revenue of the Duchy oi Cornwall, and any other Revenue arifing by the Rents of Lands in England or IVrJes, or for Fines of Leafes of the fam.e, or any of them ; and the Duty of four and half per Centum in Specie, arifing in Barhadoes, and the Leewards Iflands in America ; and out of the Monies which fhould arife by the faid Act for the faid further Subfidy of Tunnage and Poundage : And it was thereby further enadted, That if the faid great and fmall Branches and Revenues, herein before menti- 6tied, fhould produce in clear Money more than the yearly Sum of feven hundred thoufand Pounds, from the five and twentieth Day of December one thoufand fix hundred ninety-nine, then the Overplus of fuch Produce, being more than the faid yearly fum of feven hundred thoufand Pounds, fhould not be jfFued, difpofed, made ufe of, or applied to any Ufe or Purpofe, or upon any Pretext whatfoever, without the Authority of Parliament, as by the faid A<S, Relation being thereunto had, may more fully appear : And whereas the Neceillty of the publick Affairs doth require, that the weekly Sum of three thoufand feven hundred Pounds of lawful Englijh Money for every Week, to be reckoned from the five and twentieth Day of December one thoufand feven hundred, and to be taken out of the faid Hereditary Revenue or Branch of Excife, and out of the faid Duties of Excife, payable during his A'lajefty's Life, and either or any of them, be applied and difpofed to and for the publick Ufe and Service, during his Majefty's Life; and that the Monies arifing hj fuch weekly Payments, during the Term of five Years, to be accounted from the faid five and twentieth Day of December one thoufand feven hundred, be now made a Security or Fund ofCredit for raifing thereupon any Sum or Sums of Money, not exceeding eight hundred and twenty thoufand Pounds, for the immediate Service of his Majefty's Navy, Guards, and Gar- rifonf.
