And it is hereby further enafted and declared, That all and every the Perrons that flaall be any of • the Lords Juftices by Virtue of this A6t, fhall be deemed and taken as Perfons executing Offices of Truft within England, and fhall be required to do all Ads requifite by the Laws and Statutes of England, to qualify themfelves to be and continue in their faid Offices or Places of Truft, within fuch Times, and in fuch Manner, and under fuch Pains, Penalties, and Difabilities as in and by the faid Ait are required. XX. And be it further enaflred by the Authority aforefaid, That from and after the Demife of her Ma- jefty without Iffue of her Body, inftead of the Oath appointed to be taken by the A6t, intituled, Jn Aa for the further Security of her Maje/ly's Perfon, ayid the Succeffton of the Crown in the Protejiant Line, and for extinguijhing the Hopes of the pretended Prince i9/"Wales, and all other Pretenders, and their open andfecret A- bettors, and for declaring the Affociation to be determined, the following Oath fhall be taken by all Per- fons required by the faid Ail to take the faid Oath therein mentioned, and hereby altered and changed (that is to fay) 1A. B. do truly and fincerely acknowledge, profefs, teftify, and declare in my Confcience, before God and the World, That our Sovereign _ is lawful and rightful of this Realm, and of all other Majefties Dominions and Countries there- unto belonging. And I do folemnly and fincerely declare. That I do believe in my Confcience, that the Perfon pretended to be Prince oi' IVales during the Life of the late King James, and fince his De- ceafe pretending to be, and taking upon himfelf the Stile and Title of King of England, by the Name of James the Third, hath not any Right or Title whatfoever to the Crown of this Realm, or any other the Dominions thereto belonging : And I do renounce, refufe, and abjure any Allegiance or Obedience

  • to him. And I do fwear. That I will bear Faith and true Alegiance to and
  • will defend to the utmoft of my Power, againft all traiterous Confpiracies and Attempts what-

' and traiterous Confpiracies which I fhall know to be againft or any of them. And I do ' faithfully pr.omife, to the utmoft of my Power, to fupport, maintain, and defend the Succeffion of the ' Crown againft him the faid James, and all other Perfons whatfoever, as the fame by an AiS, intituled, ' An ASfJor the further Limitation of the Crown, and better fecuring the Rights and Liberties of the SubjeSf, is ' and ftands limited to the Princefs Sophia, Eleclrefs and Dutchefs Dowager of Hanover, and the Heirs ' of her Body, being Proteftants. And all thefe Things I do plainly and fincerely acknowledge and ' fwear, according to the exprefs Words by me fpoken, and according to the plain and common Senfe ' and Underftandjng of the fame Words, without any Equivocation, mental Evafion, or fecret Referva- •* tion whatfoever. And I do make this Recognition, Acknowledgment, Abjuration, Renunciation, and ' Promife, heartily, willingly and truly, upon the true Faith of a Chriftian.' So help me GOD. XXL The Blanks of which Oath fhall be filled up with the Name of her or him, as Queen, or King, who fhall be next in Succeffion, according to the faid Aft for the further I/imitation of the Crown, and better fecuring the Rights and Liberties of the Subject, when the faid Oath is to take Place, and with the other proper Additions rof the Words Her, His, or Him, and from and after the Death of the faid pre- tended Prince oi Wales, thefe Words following, viz. [' And I do folemnly and fincerely declare. ' [' againft all Perfons whatfoever.'] XXIJ. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid. That fuch next fucceeding Queen or King fhall and may make ufe of any Seal, to affix to any Writing or Inftrument, which fhe or he fhall, before her or his Arrival in Great Britain, make and pafs, to execute and do, or caufe to be executed or done, any regal Adt-; and it being fignifie.d by fuch Writing or Inftrument, that the fame fhall have the fame. Efleft as if paiTed under the Great Seal of Great Britain, or any other publick Seal ufed there, the fame: fhall be of the fame Force and EfFedl:, as if it were aftually fealed by the Great Seal of Great Britain, or fuch other publick Seal, which the fame is declared to be intended to have the Force and EfFedl of in fuch Writing or Inftrument. - ' XXIII. And be it further declared and enafled. That if, after the Death of her Majefty without'*; Iffue, and before the Arrival of any fucceeding Queen or King in Great Britain, any Parliament fhall be. i called by the Lords Jufticeo, by Writs tefted in their Names ; by the Arrival of fuch fucceeding Queen i or King in Great Britain, fuch Parliament fhall not be diilblved, but after fuch Arrival fhall proceed without any new Summons, XXIV. Provided always. That if any of the aforefaid feven Officers, other than the Office of Lord High Treafurer of Great Britain, fhall be in Commiffion at the Time of fuch Demife of her Majefty, that then the firft Conimiffioner of fuch refpeftive CommiiTion fhall be one of the faid Lords Juftices oi Great Britain, and ufe, .exercife, and execute all Powers, Authorities, Matters, and Aits of Government by ]this A(ft vefted in the faid Lords Juftices of Great Britain, according to the Dirediions and Provifions of this;
