C. ii. 449 Skin of any Calf, Ihall wilfully or negligently be. gaftied, flaughtered or cut in the Flaying thereof, or be- ing gaflied, flaughtered or cut as aforelaid, {hall be offered to Sale by any Butcher, or any other Perfon or Perfons whatfoever, then and in every fuch Cafe, the Butcher or other Perfon, who impaired or hurt the faid Hide 'by Gafliing, Slaughtering or Cutting as aforefaid, or the Perfon offering the fame to Sale, • fhall for every fuch Offence forfeit and pay the Sum of two Shillings and fix Pence for every fuch Hide, and one Shilling for every fuch Calve-skin, to wit, one Moiety thereof to the Poor of the Parifli where the fame fliall be found or offered toSale, and the other Moiety thereof to fuch Perfons as will feize, inform or fue for the fame. XII. And be it further enafted. That if any Tanner or other Perfon or Perfons, from and after the faid Penalty on (!ia- four and twentieth Day of June one thoufand feven hundred and eleven, fhall fhave or caufe to be fhaved ^'"gWides betors any Hide or Calve-skin whatfoever, before the fame be thoroughly tanned, whereby fuch Hide or Skin thoroughly^ fhall be impaired, and her Majefly's Duty thereby diminifhed, every fuch Hide or Skin or the value tanned. thereof, fhall be forfeited ; one Moiety to the Qiieen, and the other Moiety to him or them that will in- form or fue for the fame. XIII. And for the better Afcertaining, Charging and Securing the Duties by this Aft fet and impofed upon all Hides and Skins, and Pieces of Hides and Skins, which within and during the faid Term of thirty-two Years fhall be tanned, tawed or drelTed within Great Britain, according to the true Meaning of this Aft, and for preventing Frauds concerning the fame; Be it further ena£led by the Authority afore- faid. That it fhall and may be lawful to and for her Majefty, her Heirs and Succeffors, or to and for the Her MajefVy, or Commiffioners of the Treafury, or any three or more of them now being, or the High Treafurer, or any f'^ Commif- three or more of CommifTioners of the Treafury for the time being, on her Majefly's Behalf, in Writing Treafury, 'to*ap- to commifTionate and appoint fuch and fo many Commiffioners or Perfons as they fhall think fit, by one point Commir- or more Commiffion or CommifTions, from time to time, to be her Majefly's CommifTioners for the Re- fioners for thefe ceipt and Management of the faid Duties by this Aft fet or impofed upon all Hides and Skins, and Pieces Duties; .of Hides and skins, tanned, tawed or drefled, or to be tanned, tawed or drefTed in G)-eat Britain ; which Whomayfubfti- faid CommifTioners or- the major Part of them refpeftively, fhall, and have hereby Pov/er, by Com- J^^ °"^ mifTions under their refpeftive Hands and Seals, to fubflitute and appoint under them fuch Receivers Ge- '^"^' neral, Colleftors, Comptrollers, Surveyors and other Officers, as fhall be requifite and necefTary for the Purpofes aforefaid ; and that the faid CommifTioners fo to be appointed, and all the Officers for the faid Duties, fhall have out of the fame fuch Salaries and Rewards for their refpeftive Services in relation to the faid Duties, as the faid Commiffioners of the Treafury, or any three or more of them now being, or the High Treafurer, or any three or more of the Commiffioners of the Treafury for the time being, fhall think reafonable to eftablifh or allow in that Behalf; and that the faid Commiffioners for the faid Duties The Money to refpeftively, for the time being, fhall from time to time caufe all the Monies to arife by or for the faid ^ P^ '"'° *« Duties upon Hides and Skins, and Pieces of Hides and Skins, to be tanned, tawed or drefled in Great "'"^"i""' Britain, and for the faid Vellum and Parchment to be made in G7-eat Britain (the necefTary Charges of ma- naging, collefting and raifing the fame excepted) to be paid from time to time, as the fame fhall arife, in- to the Receipt of her Ma]e&:y's EKcheqner in England, under the Penalties, Forfeitures and Difabilitles herein after exprefl'ed. XIV. And it is hereby enafted and declared. Tan yard, Workhoufe, Mill or other Place, for the Tanning, Tawing, or Dreffing any fuch Hides or Skins, or Pieces of Hides or Skins, Vellum and Parchment as aforefaid, by them refpec- tively ufed, and of the Number and Situation of Pits and Fats in them or any of them, and of the Numbers and Kinds of the Hides and Skins, or Pieces of Hides and Skins, then being in the faid Pitts and Fatts refpeftively ; and that all and every fuch Tanner, Tawer, Currier, DrefTer and Maker as aforefaid, as often as he, fhe or they fhall change, their Places of Tanning,, Tawing or Dreffing of fuch Hides or Skins, or Pieces of Hides and Skins, or making fuch Vellum or Parchment, and all and every Perfon and Perfons, who fliall at any Time or Times hereafter, during the Continuance of this Aft, be the Tanner, Tawer, Currier or Drefler of any fuch Hides or Skins, or Pieces of Hides or Skins, or be the Maker of any fuch Vellum or Parchment as aforefaid, fhall give or leave the like Notice of their re- fpeftive Names and Places of Abode, and of their Tan-houfes, Yards, Work-houfes, Mills, or otherPla- ces where they fhall tan, taw or drefs, or intend to tan, taw or drefs any fuch Hides or Skins, or Pieces thereof, or make any fuch Vellum or Parchment as aforefaid, before they or any of them do prefume to •make ufe of fuch Tan-houfe, Yard, Work-houfe, Mill or other Place, or any Pits or Fats therein, td
