II. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That from and after the faid firft Day of The Weight of July, all Silver Wire to be drawn for the making of Silver Thread, fhall hold at leaft eleven Ounces Silver Thread. fifteen Penny-weight of fine Silver upon the Pound Weight Troy; and that all Silver to be gilt and made Weight of Cik ufe of in the Wire-drawers Trade, fliall hold at leaft eleven Ounces eight Penny Weight of fine Silver saver Tread, upon the Pound Weight Troy, and fhall not have lefs than four Penny-weight four Grains of fine Gold, without any Allay laid upon each Pound Weight of the faid Silver ; upon Pain, that the Refiner or Maker thereof, fhall forfeit and pay the Sum of five Shillings for each and every Ounce fo made contrary to the Directions of this Aft. III. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That from and after the faid firft Day of Ko R' !t Wir(: *• July no gilt Wire fliall be coloured with Verdgreafe or Deadhead, or any other forced Colour, upon or rei1- Fain, that the Perfon fo offending fhall forfeit and pay the Sum of two Shillings and fix Pence for every ^™Q ty 2S ' 6d- Ounce fo coloured ; and for all Gold and Silver prepared as aforefaid, and reduced into Plate, there fhall WcighTof Cold be allowed at the leaft fix Ounces of the faid Plate to cover four Ounces of Silk, except large Twift, and Silverredu- Freeze, Freezon, Froft and Cheque, and alfo except round Brocade ufed in the making brocaded Gold eed into Plate, and Silver Silks or Stuffs only, in which there fhall be allowed at the leaft fix Ounces of the faid Plate to cover five Ounces of Silk, and no more ; all which Gold and Silver Plate fhall be fpun clofe upon v/ell boilded and light dyed Silk only, except Froft, being run thin, and fpun upon different coloured Silk ; and in cafe any Spinner of Gold and Silver Thread, or other Perfon, fhall lay Gold or Silver Plate upon Pen *hy *«• 6d. any greater Proportions of Silk, or in any other Manner than as before directed by this Act (except as ,," ln ° u ^ C r' c°i' herein before is excepted) fuch Spinner, or other Perfon, fhall forfeit and pay two Shillings and fix Pence than heiein di- for every Ounce fo fpun. reeled. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That if any Perfon whatfoever, from Penalty of 2 j. and after the faid firft Day of July, fhall fell, or offer to Sale, any Gld or Silver Orrice Lace, mix- 6 A. an Ounce ed with any other Metal or Material than Gold or Silver, Silk and Vellum, the Perfon fo felling, or for filing Gold offering the fame to Sale, fhall forfeit and pay for every Ounce the Sum of two Shillings and fix withotieSleul. And be it fuither enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That if any Perfon whatfoever after the fealty 5 s. an faid firft Day of July fhall fell any Gold or Silver Wire, Plate, Thread, Lace, or Fringe, by any other ° unce ' ° fe " Weight than Troy Weight, the Perfon fo felling fhall forfeit for every Ounce fo fold, the Sum of five ^Weight Shillings. VI. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That from and after the faid firft Day of Penalty of 5 s. July, if any Maker or Seller of any Goods made or mixed with Gold or Silver Thread or Plate, fhall an ° unce ' f " r . make or fell any Goods mixed with Gold or Silver Thread or Plate, made contrary to the Intent and SoldTr^lver Meaning of this Act, fuch Perfon or Perfons fhall forfeit and pay five Shillings for each and every Ounce Thread or Mate of Gold and Silver Thread or Plate fo made or fold. mixed contrary to this A&. VII. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That from and after the faid firft Day of Penalty on im- July no Gold or Silver Thread, Lace, Fringe, or any other Work made thereof, or any Thread, Lace, porting Gold, Fringe, or other Work, made of Copper, Brafs, or any other inferior Metal, or Gold or Silver Wire s j. 1 . ve r' n ^ Vo, j k3 ' or Plate, fliall be imported or brought into Great Britain ; upon Pain of being forfeited and burnt, and ° upon the Penalty of one hundred Pounds to be paid by the Importer thereof, for each and every Parcel lb imported. . VIII. And for the better detecting of Frauds that may be committed by the Refiners, in laying a lefs Ingots of Silver Quantity of Gold upon Silver than is directed by this Act ; Be it enacted by the Authority aforefaid, for B'lt wire to That from and after the faid firft Day of July every Ingot or Bar of Silver defigned to be made ufe of for ^ e " el ? hed . And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That of the feveral Penalties and Forfeitures Forfeitures, Half made and inflicted by this Act, one Moiety fhall be to the Ufe of his Majefty, his Heirs and Succeffors, to the King, &c. and the other Moiety to him or them that fhall inform, fue or profecute for the fame, and may be fued for and recovered by Action of Debt, Bill, Plaint, or Information, in any of his Majefty 's Courts of jRecord at Wejltninjler ; wherein no Effoin, Protection, Privilege, or Wager of Law, nor more than one Imparlance fhall he allowed. X. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That if any Perfon or Perfons fliall be fupd for what he or they fhall do in the Execution of this Act, he or they may plead the General Ifiue, and General Iffnr, Vol. VI.
