iui .ic'i iodic' ' fubje& to the feveral Duties payable for Tea confumed in Great Britain, and alfo to the fame Rules, Duties, Methods and Directions, as are prefcribed and given with refpect to Tea imported by them from the Eaji Indies, fo as Notice be firft given to the Commiffioners of his Majefty's Treafury, or the High Trea- furer for the Time being, of the Quantity of Tea fo intended to be imported, with the Name of the taking a Licence Ship and Mailer, or Commander, in which the fame is to be laden, and taking a Licence under the Cam the Trea- Hands of the faid Commiffioners of the Treafury, or any three or more of them, or the faid High Trea- fi»*y- furer for the Time being, for the Lading and Importing thereof as aforefaid, which Licences they are hereby authorized and impowered to grant to the faid Company without any Fee or Reward, or any other Charge ; any Law, Ufage or Cuftom to the contrary notwithftanding. Company neg- XL Provided always, and be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That if the faid United- 'l-Mvf i t"- P ' y Company of Merchants of England trading to the Eaji Indies, fhall at any Time neglect to keep this ' Market fupplied with a fufficient Quantity of Tea, at reafonable Prices, to anfwer the Confumption thereof in Great Britain, it fhall and may be lawful to and for the faid Commiffioners of the Treafury, Licences may be or any three or more of them, or the faid High Treafurer for the Time being, to grant Licences to any grantee! to others, other Perfon or Perfons, Body or Bodies Politick or Corporate, to import Tea into Great Britain, from any Parts of Europe, in fuch and the like Manner, and fubject to fuch Duties, and under fuch Reftric- tions and Limitations, and upon fuch Notices, and with fuch Licences, as are herein before prefcribed and directed, with refpect to Tea to be imported from any Parts of Europe, by the faid United Company of Merchants of England trading to the Eaft Indies; any Thing in this or any former Act or Acts of Par- liament to the contrary thereof in any wife notwithftanding. Tea imported XII. Provided always, and be it further enabled by the Authority aforefaid, That from and after the from any P3 ^ s faid twenty-fourth Day of June one thoufand feven hundred and forty-five, all Tea imported into Greai pay ttreiSubii- Britain, from any Parts of Europe, by the faid United Company of Merchants of England trading to the dies, &c. Eaji Indies, or by any other Perfon or Perfons, Bodies Politick or Corporate (to be licenfed as aforefaid) fhall be entered at the Cuftom-houfe, and fhall pay or fecure the feveral Subfidies and additional Impofi- tions, now chargeable upon all Tea imported by the faid Company from the Eajl Indies; and all Tea fo to be imported by the faid United Company, from any Parts of Europe as aforefaid, fhall be forthwith and; be put into carried and put into fuch Warehoufe or Warehoufes, as are now made ufe of by the faid United Com- ■Watfhoufes, pany, for the receiving Tea imported by them from the Eaji Indies, or fuch others as they fhall provide for that Purpofe, to be approved by the Commiffioners of his Majefty's Cuftoms, or the major Part of them for the Time being, and fhall not be taken out of fuch Warehoufe or Warehoufes, until fuch Tea fhall be fold at the publick Sales of the faid United Company, and the feveral Duties charged thereupon by this Act fhall be paid; and all Tea imported from any Parts of Europe, by any other Perfon or Per- fons, Bodies Politick or Corporate (to be licenfed as aforefaid) fhall alfo be forthwith carried or put into fuch Warehoufe or Waeehoufes, as fhall be provided for that Purpofe, at the Charge of the refpective Importer or Importers of fuch Tea, to be alfo approved by the faid Commiffioners of his Majefty's Cu- ftoms, or the major Part of them for the Time being, and fhall not be taken out thence upon any Account Wx Days Notice whatfoever, until the fame fhall be publickly fold by fuch Perfon or Perfons, or Bodies Politick or Cor- ot'Sdies of Tea porate (of which Sale or Sales, fix Days Notice fhall be given in the London Gazette) ; and the Inland Du- ro be ; given m x ts charged thereupon by this Act fhall be paid as aforefaid; any thing in this or any former Act to the the London Ga- . °, r - v ' ■ ,• . •,, n •• T J J o J zetl contrary thereof in any wiie notwithftanding. . And whereas by the Laws now in Force concerning the Duties of Excife, and other Duties ' under the Management of the Commiffioners of Excife in that Part of Great Britain called England, all ' Forfeitures and Offences made and committed within the immediate Limits of the chief Office in London, ' are to be heard, adjudged and determined by the chief Commiffioners and Governors of Excife; and ' all fuch Forfeitures and Offences made and committed within all or any other the Counties, Cities, 1 Towns or Places in England, are to be heard and determined by any two or more of the Juftices of the ' Peace refiding near to the Place where fuch Forfeitures fhall be made or Offence committed : And ' whereas many Perfons chargeable with Duties of Excife, or other Duties under the Management of the ' faid Commiffioners, or incurring Penalties by Offences againft the faid Laws, do frequently avoid Pro- ' fecutions for the fame, by removing out of the Jurifdiction wherein fuch Duties were charged or Of- fences committed, to the great Prejudice of the Revenue, and Difcouragement of the fairTraders :' For l and after the faid twenty- nay be lawful for the faid m charged with any of the ^™' ' faid Duties, or who (hall have committed any- Offence againft the faid Laws or any of them, or againft this Acl, fhall be found to fummon, hear, adjudge and determine, and iffue any Procefs or Warrant in the fame Manner as fuch Commiffioners or Juftices may now do in cafe of fuch Offences as are commit- ted within their refpective Jurifdictions : And in cafe the faid Commiffioners or Juftices fhall, upon any Judgment given by them refpeclively, iffue a Warrant or Warrants of Diftrefs, and the Perfon or Per- fons authorized to execute fuch Warrant, or any of them, fhall make a Return thereto, that no fufficient Diftrefs can be found, then it fhall and may be lawful for the faid Commiffioners and Juftices refpectively, within whofe Jurifdiction the Party fhall at any Time be found, againft whom fuch Warrant fhall have been iffucd, upon producing to them fuch Warrant and Return thereof, to commit fuch Offender to the jVBXt County Gaol till Satisfaction be made, XIV.
