An Aft for eftablifhing an Agreement with the Governor and Company of the Bank of Eng- land for cancelling certain Exchequer Bills upon the Terms therein mentioned-, and for obliging them to advance the Sum of one million upon the Credit of the Land-Tax and Malt Duties granted to his Majefty for the Service of the Year one thoufand feven hundred and forty-fix. WHEREAS by Act of Parliament made and paflcd in the fixtecnth Year of his prefent Ma- 16 Geo. 2,e,ic f jefty's Reign, intituled, An Ait for repealing the fevered Rates and Duties upon Vicluallers and Re- tailers of Beer and Ale within the Cities e/^ London and Wcftminftcr, and the weekly Bilh of Mortality ; and, for transferring the Exchequer Bills unfatisfied thereupon to the Duties for Licences to fell Spirituous Liquors and Strong Waters by Retail; and alfo for enabling his Majefty to raife a certain Sum of Money for the Service of the Tear one thoufand feven hundred and forty-three, to be further charged on thefaicl Duties for Licences ; it was (amongft other Things) enacted, That from and after the twenty-fourth Day of June one thoufand feven hundred and forty- three, the feveral Rates and Duties impofed by an Act of twelfth Year of the Reign of his late Majefty King George the Firft, upon all Victuallers and Retailers of Beer and Ale within the Cities of London and IVcftmirfler, and the weekly Bills of Mortality, fhould from thenceforth ceafc-,. determine, and be no longer paid or payable ; and it was thereby alfo enacted, That from and after the faid twenty-fourth Day of June one thoufand feven hundred and forty-three, the principal Sum of four hundred eighty-one thoufand four hundred Pounds in Exchequer Bills ( Part of the Sum of five hundred thoufand Pounds advanced and lent into the Receipt of his Majefty's Exchequer, by the Go- vernor and Company of the Bank of England, upon the Credit of the faid Rates and Duties, at an In- tereft after the Rate of three Pounds per Centum per Annum) made forth in purfuance of the laid Act of twelfth Year of his faid late Majefty's Reign, which then remained unfatisfied and undischarged, toge- ther with the Intereft thereupon, and the Charges of circulating the fame, fhould be transferred from the faid Rates and Duties then charged with the fame, and be charged (together with the Sum of five hundred and eighteen thoufand fix hundred Pounds, directed to be raifed by the before recited Act of the fixteenth Year of his prefent Majefty's Reign, towards the Supply for the faid Year one thoufand feven hundred and forty-three) upon the Duties granted and made payable to his Majefty, by virtue of ano- ther Act of Parliament parted in the faid fixteenth Year of his Majefty's Reign, intituled, An Atl for tGGco.s, c.St repealing certain Duties upon Spirituous Liquors, and on Licences for retailing the fame ; and for laying other Duties on Spirituous Liquors, and on Licences to Retail the faid Liquors ; as in and by the iaid Aft, Rela- tion being thereunto had, may more fully appear: And whereas, in purfuance of the faid firft herein re- cited Act of the faid fixteenth Year of his Majefty's Reign, the faid Sum of four hundred eighty-one thoufand four hundred Pounds in Exchequer Bills ; as alfo the faid further Sum of five hundred and eighteen thoufand fix hundred Pounds, amounting together to the principal Sum of one million, were charged upon the faid Duties arifing by Licences as aforefaid, at an Intereft after the Rate of three Pounds per Centum per Annum; which faid Exchequer Bills, by paying oft" Part of the faid principal Sum, do now amount to no more than the principal Sum of nine hundred and eighty-fix thoufand eight hundred Pounds : And whereas the faid Governor and Company of the Bank of England are willing ancV contented, that the faid Sum of nine hundred and eighty-fix thoufand eight hundred Pounds in Exche- quer Bills, remaining unfatisfied on the faid Duties payable for Licences to fell Spirituous Liquors by Retail, may be cancelled and difcharged, and in lieu thereof to accept of an Annuity of thirty-nine thoufand four hundred and feventy-two Pounds, being the Intereft on the faid Sum at the Rate of four Pounds per Centum per Annum, to be charged upon the fame Securities ; and the faid Governor and Company are alfo willing to advance and pay into the Receipt of his Majefty's Exchequer, towards the Supply granted to his Majefty for the Service of the Year one thoufand feven hundred and forty-fix, the Sum of one million, upon the Credit of the Rates, Duties and Aneflments arifing by the Malt and?
