An Aft for granting to his Majefty feveral Rates and Duties upon Glafs, and upon Spirituous Liquors ; and for raifing a certain Sum of Money by Annuities, and a Lottery, to be charged on the faid Rates and Duties ; and for obviating fome Doubts about making out Orders at the Exchequer for the Monies advanced upon the Credit of the Salt Duties, granted and continued to his Majefty by an Acl of the laft Seffion of Parliament. Mojl Gracious Sovereign, WE your Majefty's mod dutiful and loyal Subjects, the Commons of Great Britain in Parliament aflembled, being dcfirous to raife the neceflkry Supplies which we have granted to your Majefty in this beflion of Parliament, in the moll fafe, eafy, and expeditious Manner we are able, have unanimously refolved to give and grant unto your Majefty the feveral and refpective new and additional Rates and Du- ties herein after exprefTed, and to that End and Purpofe do moft humbly befcech your Majefty, that it may be enacted ; And be it enacted by the King's moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice an 1 Content of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament aiTemblcd, and by the Authority of the fame, That from and after the twenty-fifth Day of March one thoufand (even. hundred and forty-fix, there fliall be raifed, levied, collected, and paid unto and for the Ufe of his Ma- jefty, his Heirs and Succeflbrs, for and upon all Crown, Plate, Flint, and other Glafr., and all Bottles and. Flafks, as fhall at any Time or Times hereafter be imported or brought into the Kingdom of Great Britain (over and above all other Cuftoms, Subfidies, and Duties, by any Act or Acts of Parliament, or Law whatfoever impofed upon or payable for the fame) the feveral and refpective additional Rates or new Duties herein after exprefled ; that is to fay, For and upon all Crown, Plate, and Flint Glafs, which fhall be imported and brought into Great Bri- Duty upon tain as aforefaid, the Sum of eight Pence for every Pound Weight, and after that Rate for a greater or Clown > P!ate > lefler Quantity; and for and upon all Green Glafs or other Glafs which fhall be imported and brought a "o F G n r e° la a „i into Great Britain as aforefaid, the Sum of two Pence for every Pound Weight, and after that Rate for a "ther Glafs- greater or lefler Quantity ; and for and upon all Bottles and Flafks, containing the Quantity of a Quart and Bottles/ &c. refpectively, which fhall be imported and brought into Great Britain as aforefaid, the Sum of two Shil- imported. lings, per Dozen ; and for and upon all Bottles and Flafks, containing more or lefs than a Quart, which fhall be imported and brought in as aforefaid, the Sura of two Shillings for every Dozen Quarts, be the Quantity of Bottles, containing the fame, greater or lefler. The faid feveral and refpective Rates and Duties, for and upon all fuch Glafs or Bottles, or Flafks, to be imported or brought in as aforefaid, to be paid by the Importer or Importers thereof refpectively. II. The faid refpective Duties for and upon all fuch Materials or Metal, or other Preparations whatfoever, Duty to be paid fo to be made ufe of in the making of fuch Glafs refpectively, to be paid by the Maker or Makers thereof by the Maker. refpectively. Ill, And be it enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That in cafe any fuch Crown, Plate, Flint, or oth:r Glafs imported, Glafs, or fuch Bottles or Flafks fo imported as aforefaid, fhall be landed, or put on Shore out of any and landed before Ship or Veflel, before due Entry be made thereof at the Cuftom-houfe, in the Port or Place where the Entry, &c. fame fliall -be imported, and the Duties hereby impofed fhall be paid or fecured, or without-a Warrant - Vol. VI. 4 for
