  • ' give and grant unto your Maiefties, the feveral rates and lums of money- herein after mentioned, and

II. III. And be it further enacted, That the Commiffioners fo Appointed ihall have Power and Authori- The Commif- ty, and are hereby Impowered and Required, under their Hands and Seals or under the Hands and poJlutoo Hack- Seals of the Major part of them, to Licence all fuch perfons who ihall drive or keep any Hackney- ney Coaches in" Coach, or Coach-Horfes within the Cities of London and Weftminjler, or the Suburb's of the fame, or London, &c. within the Pariihes Comprized within the weekly Bills of Mortality ; And that the number of all' Hack- ney Coaches- fo to be Licenfed, ihall not exceed Seven hundred ; And for every Licence fo to be grant- w, ' at ftla " be ed for each Coach there (hall be paid to the faid Commiffioners, or feme other perfon to be appointed King for every : by their Majefties, to receive the fame for their Majefties ufe, the fum of fifty pounds of 'lawful money Coach. of England, and no more, by way of Fine for fuch Licence ; Which Sum of fifty pounds (hall be paid by the perfon to be Licenfed, before the Licence fhall be delivered to him ; And the faid Licences, and every of them, (hall be granted to continue for, and during the term of one and twenty years from the date of each refpective Licence and no longer, and (hall not afterwards be renewed, or continued for any longer time ; neither (hall any Licence be granted in Reverfion, to commence after the determina- tion of others : And upon every of the faid Licences, there (hall be referved and made payable unto' ' their Majefties, their Heirs and Succeffors, the yearly Rent or Sum of four pounds, payable quar- , terly at the four moft ufual feafts of the year, (that is to fay) the feaft of Saint Michael the Arch* ' angel, of the Nativity of cur Lord Chrijf, of the Annunciation of the Bleffed Virgin Mary, and' ; of the Nativity of Saint John Baptift, with fuch convenants, conditions and provifoes therein to be' inferted for the more effectual payment thereof, as the faid Commiffioners in their difcretion (hall think fit. ... And be it further enacted, That the faid Commiffioners fo appointed, (hall have power and au- Commiffioners ; thority, and are hereby impowered and required under their Hands and Seals, or the Hands and Seals, stage-Coache* - of the major part of them to licence all Stage-Coaches which (hall be kept or driven in anyplace orforayear. places within the Kingdom of England, dominion of Wales and town of Berwick upon Tweed; And that no licence to be granted for any Stage-Coach (hall continue or be in force no longer than for one Rate to the year from the date therof; That upon every Licence fo to be granted for keeping or driving a Stage- Kin ^ Coach, there be referved payable to their Majefties, their Heirs and Succeffors, the rent or annual fum of eight pounds of lawful Englijh money for one year, the fame to be paid quarterly at the faid Four moft ufual Feafts of the year, with fuch Covenants, Provifoes and Conditions for the more effectual payment thereof, as the laid Commiffioners in their difcretion (hail think fit and reafonable ; that every perfon licenfed, as aforefaid, to keep or drive any Hackney-Coach or Stage-Coach may, by writing un- der his Hand and Seal, Affign, or by his laft Will in writing devife his, her or their refpective Intereft |;'[; c £ t s ag 'f n r d therein, and in default of fuch Affignment or Devife, the Executors or Adminiftrators of the perfons to Hackney may whom fuch Licences are granted, (hall be intituled thereto, during the refidue of the refpective Intereft grant or devife. therein,
