3° C. 12. Method of the Lottery Books. 35,000 Tickets to be printed off, Anno tertio Georgii III. A. D. 1762. and by this Act directed and appointed by fuch Managers and Directors to be done and performed ; and that fuch Managers or Directors fhall meet together, from time to time, at fome Publick Office or Place for the Execution of the Powers and Trufts in them repofcd by this Act ; and that the faid Managers and Directors, or fo many of them as fhall be prefent at; any fuch Meeting, or the major Part of them, fhall for each of the faid Lotteries caufe Books to be prepared, in which every Leaf (hall be divided or diflinguifhed into three Columns ; and upon-the innermoft of the faid three Columns there fhall be printed thirty-five thoufand Tickets, to be numbered I, II, III, and fo on- wards in an arithmetical Progreffion, where the common Excefs is to be One, until they rife to and for the Number of thirty-five thoufand ; and upon the middle Column in every of the faid Books fhall be printed thirty-five thoufand Tickets of the fame Breadth and Form, and numbered in like Manner; and in the extreme Column of the faid Books there fhall be printed a Third Rank or Se- ries of Tickets, of the fame Number with thofe of the other two Columns; which Tickets fhall feverally be of an oblong Figure, and in the faid Books fhall be joined with oblique Lines, Flourifhes or Devices, in fuch Manner as the faid Managers and Directors, or the major Part of them fhall think moft fafe and convenient; and that every Ticket in the faid Third or extreme Co- lumn of the faid Books, for the Firft. Lottery, fhall have written or printed thereupon (befides the Number of fuch Ticket) Words to this Effect : FIRST LOTTERY, 17153. e T"* H E Bearer hereof is intitled to Five Pounds, in Annuities, at the Rate of Four Pounds

And that every Ticket in the Third or extreme Column of the faid Books, for the Second Lottery, fhall have written or printed thereupon (befides the Number of fuch Ticket) Words to this Effect: Managers to examine the Books with the Tickets, and deliver them after to the Cafhiers of the Bank, taking a Receipt for the fame. Cafhiers to iftue a Ticket for every io 1. received, tee. Cafhiers to return the Books with the Re- mainder of the Tickets undifpofed, in refpetit. of the firft Lottery, by 4 May ; and of the fe- cond, by 29 October; and account for the Mo- nies received. Tickets undifpofed of to be delivered into the Exchequer. SECOND LOTTERY, 1763. c TpHE Bearer hereof is intitled to Five Pounds, in Annuities, at the Rate of Four Pounds ' J. per Centum per Annum, attending the Second Lottery, to be drawn purfuant to an Act of c Parliament made in the third Year of his Majefty's Reign, or to a better Chance.' XLVIII. And it is hereby enacted, That the faid Managers and Directors, or fo many of them as fhall be prefent at any fuch Meeting, or the major Part of them then prefent, fball carefully exa- mine the faid refpective Books, with the Tickets therein, and take Care that the fame be contrived, numbered and made according to the true Intent and Meaning of this Act, and fhall deliver or caufe to be delivered the fame Books, and every or any of them refpectively as they fhall be examined, to the faid Cafhier or Cafhiers, taking from fuch Cafhier or Cafhiers, an Acknowledgment in Writing under his or their Hand or Hands, importing his or their Receipt of fuch Book or Books, and fo many Tickets therein as fhall be delivered to him or them refpectively ; and all and every fuch Ca- fhier or Cafhiers refpectively is and are hereby directed and required, upon his or their receiving every or any intire Sum of ten Pounds, in full Payment of a Ticket, for either of the faid Lotte- ries, from any Perfon or Perfons contributing or adventuring as aforefaid, to cut a Ticket for fuch refpective Lottery out of the faid extreme Column, in one of the Books fo to be put into his or their Cuftody, through the faid oblique Lines, Flourifhes or Devices, indentwife, which Ticket the faid Cafhier or Cafhiers fhall fign with his or their own Name or Names ; and he or they fhall permit the Contributor, if it be defired, to write his or her Name or Mark on the correfponding Ticket in the fame Book; and at the fame Time the faid Cafhier or Cafhiers fhall deliver to the faid Contributor the Ticket fo cut off, which he, fhe or they are to keep and ufe for the better afcer- taining and fecuring the Intereft which he, fhe or they, his, her or their Executors, Adminiftra- tors, Succeffors or Affigns fhall or may have in the faid Fund. XLIX. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That the faid Cafhier or Cafhiers fhall, at or before the refpective Times herein after limited, redeliver to the faid Managers and Di- re£lors, at their Office or Place of Meeting, all the faid Books, and therein all the Tickets which the faid Cafhier or Cafhiers fhall not have cut out and delivered to the refpective Contributors as aforefaid ; that is to fay, Such of the faid Books and Tickets as relate to the Firft Lottery, fhall be fo redelivered on or before the fourth Day of May one thoufand feven hundred and fixty-three; and fuch of the faid Books and Tickets as relate to the Second Lottery, fhall be fo redelivered on or be- fore the twenty-ninth Day of Oclober one thoufand feven hundred and fixty-three; and the faid Cafhier or Cafhiers fhall, at the Time of fuch Redelivery of the faid refpective Books, give to the faid Managers and Directors a true and juft Account in Writing under his or their Hand or Hands, of all Sams of Money which fhall then have been received by him or them, for and upon account of the Lottery in refpect whereof fuch Books fhall be fo redelivered, and how much of fuch Mo- nies fhall have been actually paid by fuch Cafhier or Cafhiers into the Receipt of the Exchequer for the Purpofes herein mentioned ; and that the faid Managers and Directors, or the major Part of them which fhall be prefent as aforefaid, fhall forthwith caufe all the Tickets of the faid outermoft 3 Columns,
