The true method of telling your Fortune, by CARDS.
TAKE a Pack of Cards, and pick Six out of ⟨each⟩ sort, viz. the 8, 9, 10, Knave, King & Queen, ⟨these⟩ being the most Prophetic Cards in the Pack. ⟨Let⟩ the Person whose Fortune is to be learned be ⟨blindfolded⟩. This done, let the Cards be shuffled, ⟨and⟩ the whole dealt out singly on the table, with ⟨their⟩ faces downwards. The bandage being then ⟨taken⟩ off the eyes of the blinded person; he or she ⟨must⟩ take up any one of the Cards; when, by examining the following Rules, the true Fortune may ⟨be⟩ known. The W. at the beginning of each stanza, stands for Woman, and M. for Man.
