5. Except as provided below. each holding must have a separate connectionto the Pourashnva‘water supply pipe and extension from the communication pipe of one holding to another holding shall not be permitted:
(0) Provided that with the consent of the l’oura- shnvu, connections to two or more holdings may be permitted from a common commu- nication pipe. Any such communications pipe must be laid in a street or common passage and a stop cock as prowdcd for in section 9 must be fixed on the connec- tion to each holding. If available. a meter must also be fixed.
(b) Provided also that no holding shall have

6.- The ;owner or occupier of the holding in respect V‘of‘which the connection is required must pay the entire cost of the connection including the supply and fixing of the fittings referred to in section 2 and must also pay the cost of such alteration in or repair to roads, drains. sewer, gas or water mains or pipes and the cost of such other works as any be necessitated by or resulting from the works .’of’making such connections.
7. The owner. or occupier of the holding to which kalconnection has been given must at any time, on” receipt of nctice to do so from the Pouras‘ha a, pay the entire cost of any repair or alterations‘flo‘the communication or any part there- of that the ,Pburashava may consider necessary to put into a "satisfactory condition, or which may be necessitated ,by any charge in the Pourashava Water works or system of distribution or by the defective condition of the connection or any part thereof or any other cases whatsoever.
8. (i) The works required under sections 6 8r 7 may at the option of the Pourashava either be carried out by the Pourashava at the expense of the owner or occupier of the holding in respect of which the works are required or may be carried out by a person or firm employed by such owner
or occupier with the previous sanction of the Pourashava.
(ii) The works shall be done under supervision of the officer appointed by the Pourashava in this behalf, and’no connection must be made with the Pourashava water-main eitccpt at such time as may be selected by an authorised Pourashava Officer.
9. A holding connection following parts and fittings: (0) A brass or unmetal ferrule inserted in the water supp y pipe. V (b) A galvanised iron communication pipe from . the ferrule to the meter, if any or a stop-cock.
(c) A stop-cock and its surface box.
Shall comprise the
((1) Meter. ~ _ (0‘ Service pipes from the stop-cack to the tap end.

10. (I) All the fittings referred to in section 9 shall be the exact dup.icatcs of standard samples kept in the l’ourashuva othee duly approved.
it All the fittings shall be inspected and tested an(d )stampcd by an odicer of the Pourashava before being fixed. '
iii If an owner or occupier desire to adopt an(y httingsym‘a pattern dill'crcnt from the standard pattern. he must present such fittings for the approval of the Pourashava and any fittings co presented may. if considered satisfactory. be stamped and samples thereof may be purchased and placed among the standard fittings.
ll. EVery communication pipe must be capable of withstanding a pressure of a column of water 50 feet in height and must be of a quality apprchd by the Water Works Superintendent of the Poartt- shava.
[2. On every communication pipe a brass or gun-metal stop-cock hav ng the same water Way as such pipe be placed as near as practicable to the point where that pipe enters the holding to be supplied. The stop-cock shall be built in a brick chamber provided with a cast iron surface cover- box so designed that it can be locked and the key of the box shall remain under the control of the Water Works Superintendent. The stop-cock shall be capable of adjustment so that the supply to the holding may be regulated thereby.
13. The meter, if any Shall be placed as near to the stopcock as possible and‘in" a position where it can be conveniently examined. It must be fixed in a brick chamber covered over with a castoiron surface-box of approved pattern with locking arrange- merit and the key of the box shall remain under the control of the Water Works Superintendent.
14. Neither therstop-ctjaglg nor the meter should ordinarily be‘ pla‘ééd iufipyvprivare premises, but if placed in a private premises at the request of the owner, the oflicers authorised by the Ponrashava to inspect or read meters will have free access to that place.
15. The Pourashava shall depute an authorised person to red eVery meter not less than once a quarter and shall give notice to occupier at least 24 hours before the reading ’is recorded
16. In the case of a meter ceasing to register the quantity ..of.‘Water consumed during the periOd the meter had cease to register ,shall be calculated on the basis of average consumption of pater 0f the holding for the last four quarters.
17. The Pourashava may cut off the connection between any Water Works of the Pourashava and any holding to which water is supplied from such
works. or mnyfihrn 011' such supply in any of the followsng cases, via: -
(a) ]f the holding is unoccupied.
(b) If the occupier refuses to admit any ofieer duly empowered in that behalf into the holding for the purpose of making any examination or inspection authorised under the Municisz Administration Ordinance, 1960 or under any Bye-Law or rule framed undsr this Ordinance, or prevent such Officer from making such examina- tion or inspection.
