labour, and to pray for Thy upholding and supporting hand through the day.

Render us sensible, O Lord, we beseech Thee, of our entire dependence on Thy supporting and beneficent providence, and give us grace to devote ourselves to Thy service with willing and confiding spirits. Suffer us not to be anxious about the future, but in all things help us to look to Thee for assistance, that we may perform well the duties of the present. May we feel conviction of the truth that the present moment is the life of man in this world, and that boyond it he has no power and can exercise no control; may we and all who kneel in Thy presence continually look to Thee for aid to be enabled to perform with fidelity our present duties, and leave the future to the wonder-working power of Thy good providence. Amen.

MONDAY EVENING.

0 LORD God of truth. Thy divine example is ever before us, and

happy are they who strive to imitate Thee, learning in all things to become Thy faithinl disciples by following Thee in theregeneration. Give wanto us. O Lord, we beseech Thee, # spirit which ahall in all things make Thee our model. Thou wast universally good; Thou didst not confer Thy blessings on those alone who followed Thee, but all participated in them. Thon didst not confine Thy healing hand exclusively to 'Thy disciples, but wherever good was to be done, there Thon wast to do it; and to warn us against exercising an exclusive spirit. Thou didst leave for our admonition the divine trath, "If ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not evén the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." © help us, mercifal Redeomer, to acquire this perfection of spirit. May wa rather suffer pain than inflict it upon others. When we see others euffering misery, may compassion prompt ns to relieve their wants, and even if they have injured us, may' Christian forbearance prevent us from retaliating. As we ses 60 much mischief resulting from anger. O grant us meskness to restrain our passions, and suffer not the sun to go down upon our wrath. Amen.

Our Father, ete.

TUESDAY MORNING. THOU who art ever present to those who humbly seek Theo, we Thy unworthy creatures, encouraged by Thy past goodness, draw near to Thee. Day unto day does but convince us of our utter insufficiency; day unto day convinces un that we can do nothing of ourselves.

Lord, we invoke Thy blessing upon this day's|duties, and we pray Thee let Thy fear be before us,that we sin not. Sad experience convinces 'us, that there is no peace to the wicked. They ave like the troubled sea when it cannot rest. They travailin pain all their days. Trouble and anguish prevail against them. Terrors make them afraid on every side. A dreadful sound is in their ears; and they are in great fear, where
