Coll., Dublin; B.A. and Ist gold medalist, 1858; H.A., 1861 ; and, finally, Hon. LL.D, 1881. Barrister [I.], 1860 ; Q.a [I.], 1872 ; Attorney Gen. {l. 1877-80. He was H.P. for the Univ. nf Dublin, 1876-85. P.C. [I.] and Bencher of the King's Inns, Dublin, 1877. P.C. [U.K.] 1886. In June 1886 he was made Lord Chancellor [I.], being then raUed to the Peerage as above. He resigned office in Feb. 1886, was re-appointed Aug. following, but again resigned in 1892, being again re-appointed in 1896(») He m. 4 April 1868, at Bt Stephen's, Dubliu, Frances Haria Adelaide, 2nd da. of Henry Jonathan Cope Collbs, Barrister at Law. A., 1861 ; H.A., 1854 ; was M.P. for West Surrey 1860-86, and for Mid Surrey, 1885-92; Second Church-Estates commiasr., 1874-79 ; P.C. 1880 ; Member of the Coundl of Selwyn College, 1887 ; Hon. Col. 2nd Vol. Batt Royal West Surrey Reg. ; and was raited to the mero^fe, 22 Aug. 1892, as above. He m. 14 June 1858, at Dorking, Laura, yst da. of the Rev.
