He m. 6 June 1S53, at the Chapel Royal, Whitehall, Ceeile Katherine Mary, 1st surv. da. of Robert John (Smith, afterwards Caiirington), 2nd Baron Carrtngton of Upton, by his 1st wife, Elizabeth Katherine, da. of Cecil Wehl (Forester), 1st Baron Forester of Willey Park. She was 6. 12 Sep. 1829. ["Charles Bobert William Colville, Master of Colvill, s. and h. ap., 6. 26 April 18,11, in Eaton Place, Midx. ; ed. at Harrow School ; joined the Gren. Guards, 1871 ; Lieut., 1874, and subsequently Capt. ; served with the 24th Reg. in the Zulu war, 1879 ; was A.D.C. to the Coin. -in-Chief of the Bombay army, 1881. He m Janet, sister of John, 1st Earl of Wemyss [S.], da. of Sir John Wemyss by his 2nd wife, Anne, da. of Sir James Stewart, of Doun. She d. at Cleish, April 1655. He d. s.p. 25 Aug. 1652, at Crombie, and was bur. there the same night. II. 1602. 2. Eohert (Colvill), Lord Colvill OF OciIILTUEE [S.], nephew and h., being s. and h. of David Colvill, by Agnes, da. of David Beaton of Balfour, eo. Fife, which David was next br. of the last Lord, and d. before 1649. He sue. to the peerage under the spec. rem. in its creation, as heir male of his uncle, to whom he was served heir, 6 Nov. 1062. He in. Margaret, da of David Wemyss, of Fingask. He d. at Cleish, 12 Feb. 1671. His widow was imprisoned by the Privy Council at Edinburgh, 2 Dec. 1684, for bringing up her sou in fanaticism and disloyal principles. III. 1671, 3. Eohert (Colvill), Lord Colvill of Ochiltree to [S.], only s. and h., took his seat in Pari. 27 May 1700, warmly 1728. Opposing the projected Union, against which he voted on every question. He m. Euphemia, da. of ( — ) Myrton, of Cambo, by ( — ), da. of ( — ) Halkett, of Pittirrane. She d. 8 Nov. 1708, and was bur. in the Chapel of Crombie [Fun. entry at Lyon office]. He d. s.p. 25 March 1728, when the pecraye, if not extinct, became dorinant.{ !l ) The title was however assumed as under, viz. : — (I.) By David Colvill, wlio called himself Lord Colvill of Ochiltree [S.] claiming to be cousin and h. male of the last Lord, as s. and h. of William f!., tenant of Balcormie Mill, co. Fife {bap. 1 Jan. 1676) s. of James C, whom he (falsely) stated to be next yst. br. to Robert, the 2nd Lord This David, who was Major in the 51st Foot, never tendered his vote at the election of Scotch Rep. Peers, and d., suddenly, unm. in London 8 Feb. 1782. Will dat. 7 May 1781 at Malum in Minorca, pr. 11 May 1782 by John Wemyss and "Robert Colvill, Esq." ( a ) His heir of line was Robert Ayton, grandson of Sir John Ayton, by (his aunt) Margaret, da. of Robert, 2nd Lord Colvill of Ochiltree. This Robert took the name of Colvill after that of Ayton, and was of Craigflower.
