Christopher (Fleming), Baron Slane [T. I, p. and h., aged 18 in 1492, but sat in the Pai l, of 1403-84. He made a settlement of hie estate, 1505, entailing it on heirs male. From 1514 to 151C he was Loud High Treasurer [I.] He in. firstly Ellis, da of Gerald (Fitz Gerald), Sth K,hl of Kildark [I.], by his 1st wife, Alison, da. of Sir Rowland Eustace. This marriage was, however, set aside, and he m. secondly Elizabeth, da. of Nicholas Stukelet, of Affeton, Devon. He d. 9 Aug. (1517), 9 Hen. VII I. IX. 1517, 9. James (Fleming), Baron Slane [I.], only 8. and h. by 2d. wife, aged 9 in 1517. On 30 Sep. 1540, he was made Lord Justice [I.] He sat in the Pari, of 1541 wherein lien. VIII. was made King of Ireland, (being ranked therein next after the Premier Baron Lord Athenry [I.]', sitting also in tile Pari, of 1559. He served with credit under the Karl uf Essex, who states iu 1573 that he was the only nobleman who would go with him against O'Neale. He was sum. 26 April 1585, and sat in the Pari, of that year, being the third Baron in the list. He distinguished himself in the Queen's service in Ireland. Hem. Catharine, da. of Jenico (Preston) 3d. Viscount Gormanston [[.], by his first wife, Katharine, da. of Gerald (Fitz Gerald), 9th Karl of Kildare [I.] He I s.p.m. 9 Nov. 1597, and was bin: at Slane. Among them anil their descendants any Barony in fee possessed hy their father would be in abeyance and such, according to Mr. Bryan's claim, is actually the case as to what he styles " THE SECOND PEERAGE OF SLANE hy the title of Lord Fleming of Slane and Baron of Pail, by writ and sitting, temp.
