He was one of the Lords of the Police [S.], 1741. He effected great improvements at Drum, and re-built the mansion there. The Committee are, there/on, of opinion that the said petitioner has a right to the said honour aud dignity." The service of 13 Feb. 1722, on which alone is founded the proof of his desceut is that he was " legitimus et propinquior lucres [not "hreres masculus "] Gilberti, Domini Somervel, fratris atavi sui," and the claimant in his petition sets forth that " the heirs general of Lord Gilbert had failed, and grounds his claim pointcd.li/ upon the fact, for he next adds that such issue of Gilbert, Lord S., having thus f'ided, the title and honour descended to the heirs of the said Hugh, Lord S.
