Fac, she being then about 10 Anne, da. of ,l..hu BhISCK- HUkst,( Ij ) of Prestou-by-Faversham, by his second wife ( — ), da. of ^ — ), of the city of Oxford. She d. s.p. 18, and vim bar. 22 Jan. 1771, at Linsted. He hi. thirdly, 7 Sep. 1772, at St. Andrew's, Holborn, Elizabeth, widow of Thomas Davis, da. of (— ) NEWPORT. He d. at Batb, 21 April, and was bur. 1 .May 1781, in the Abbey there, aged about 78.(») M.I. Will dat. 8 May 177:5, pr. 14 May 17»l. His widow, by whom he had no issue, hi. Dec. [Qy. 1 Dec], 1782, at Preston, co. Lancaster, Kvan John Gkkaki), of Heightoti, in that county, whom she survived. Her will, as of the City of Worcester, widow, dat. 7 .May 1800, pr. 17 Feb. 1802. ( a ) Two, three-quarter length, pictures, formerly at Linsted Lodge, one of the 10th Lord, and the other of (Catharine Powell), his first wife (her hand resting upon a Baron's coronet), each aged, apparently, about 35, are in the possession of the present (1S96), Lord Teynham. A beautiful three-quarter length picture, by Lolv, of her mother (Anne Windham), when about 20 [" ob. 17 Nov. 1727, let. :VJ"J, representing her as " Diana." in a low dress, very open in trout, and with a plume of feathers on her head, is [1896] in possession of her (Lady Teynham's) great grandson, the Rev. Frederick George Holbrooke, M.A., whose mother was da. of the lion. Philip lionet (<i. 1 Jan 18:11, aged 91), her 5th and yst surv. son. (»>) The lirst wife (m. in or before 1700;, of this John Brinckhurst (who was formerly of the More, in Great Marlow, Bucks, and who d. 1!) July 172<ii, was Mary (sometimes called Elizabeth), sister of Sir Francis Curson, ad Bart., of Waterperry, co. Oxon. By her he had four children, ail of whom were devisees of the Waterperry estates, under the will of their maternal uncle, the said Sir Francis Curson (dat. 8 Aug. 171'.', aud pr. 2 Aug. 1750., subject to the life estate of testator's widow, Winifred, who d. in April 1764. These four were [l) John Britick- hurst, who (/. s.p. in the lifetime of the said Dame Winifred Curson, in Aug 1750 ; (2) Catharine, who inherited the Waterperry estate in 1764, aud who i/. uniu. (under the name of " Biiuckhurst-Cursou,") 3 Aug. 177<i, aged 76 ; (:5) Frances, hi. the Hon. Thomas Barnewall (adulon. 21 .March 176!/, at Dublin), being mother of John Barne- wall, afterwards Baniewall-Cnrson, who inherited Waterperry in 177(5, and </. num. 1 787, devising that property to Henry Francis Roper, afterwards (1324), 14th Baron Teynham as hi the text ; (4) " Lady Gaydou " [Jane Penelope, widow of Sir liicliard Gaydou], of whom nothing more is known, save that she d. s.p. before 1777. The next devisee, alter these four and their issue, was " John Belson of Brill, Esq." (who also d. s.p. before 1777) for life, and his issue in tail male, with a final rem. to testator's own right heirs. This John Belson was doubtless a cousin, testator's grcat-auut Elizaiiet.li, having m., before 1631, Augustine Belson, then of Stokenchurch, but afterwards (1862), of Brill, co. Bucks. John Brinckhurst (who is said to have in., as a second wife, the da. of a plumber and glazier of Oxford), had other children, who or whose issue were living at testator's death, i - /-., Auue, then aged about 21, who d. 8 p.. having in. (as his second wife), in 1766, the 10th Barou Teynham, aud another da. [Qy. Charlotte], who in., before 1735, Lancelot Lytteltou, being mother by him of Mary, who (by the Hon. Francis Koper) was mother of Henry Francis, who, in 1787 (under the will of the last owner), inherited the Curson estates, aud who became afterwards (1821), 14th Barou Teynham. An act of Pari., 1777, enabling John Barnewall-t 'nrsou to jointure a wife ou the Curson estates, of which he was life tenant, states that, at that date, his mother (then aged above 60, whose only child he was) was the sole heir at law of Sir Francis Curson (she being da. of his sister;, proving consequently that Jlrs. Lytteltou (grandmother of the 11th Lord Teyuham) was not sister of the w/iule blood to that Lady, as in that case bulk would have been coheirs to the said Sir Francis. See also pedigree of Cnrzuu in " the Lawson M38." As the name of Curzou has been borne since 1821 by the Barons Teynham, it is interesting to note the absence of any descent from that family.
