[With a shriek.] Constantius! Gallus. [Amazed.] Caesar! Julian. Ah! [He tries to seize the Emperor's hands, as if in joy.
The Emperor.
[Waving him aside.] Away from me! What would you? Is not Gallus the elder? What hopes have you been cherishing? What rumours have you, in your blind presumption
