SCHEDULE 8

Exercise of powers

(1) The power conferred by section 25 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1967 is exercised by the Secretary of State for Transport as respects England by the Secretary of State for Scotland as respects Scotland and the Secretary of State for Wales as respects Wales (see the definition of the appropriate Minister in section 104(1) as read subject to section 108 of that Act).

(2) The powers conferred by sections 54(1) and 55(1) of the said act of 1967, as amended by paragraph 24(17) of Schedule 3 to the Secretary of State for the Environment Order 970[1] and also the powers conferred by the provision relating to section 22 of the Road Traffic Act, 1972 in column 5 of Part I of Schedule 4 to that Act, as that provision is amended by Paragraph 9 of Schedule 3 to The Secretary of State for Transport Order 1976[2] are exercised by those three Secretaries or State acting jointly.
