Any reference in this paragraph and in the next following paragraph to a traffic sign shown in diagram 601.1 and to the number of that diagram in the said table shall be treated as a reference until the 31st December 1981 inclusive of that date to any sign which can be treated as if prescribed by the Regulations until that date if it is a sign of the type shown in the diagram numbered 601 in Schedule 1 to the Traffic Signs Regulations 1964.
References in this paragraph to the road marking shown in diagram number 1002.1 specified in column 2 of the table above include, until the 31st December 1983 inclusive of that date, references to any road marking which can be treated until that data as if prescribed by the Regulations if it is a sign or the type shown in diagram 1002 in schedule 2 to the Regulations of 1975.
11.—(1) The sign shown in diagram 501 shall not be used unless used either in combination with a plate of the type shown in diagram 502 and in conjunction with the sign shown in diagram 601.1 or in combination with a plate of the type shown in diagram 503 and in conjunction with the sign shown in diagram 602.
(2) The sign shown in diagram 545 shall not be used unless used in combination with any one of the following, that is to say, with a plate of the type shown in diagram 546 to 547.3 or the traffic sign (warning lights) prescribed by Regulation 37(2) of the Regulations.
(3) The traffic signs shown in the diagrams whose numbers appear in column 1 of the table set out at the end of this paragraph shall not be used unless used in combination with a plate, of the type shown in the diagrams whose numbers appear in column 2 or that table opposite to the number in column 1 to which they relate.
