Institution, the National Museum, the United States Fish Commission, the Department of Labor, and the Library of Congress may respectively decide shall be embraced in the Government exhibit, inc udin the exhibit of the Bureau of the American Republics, and such ad<§tiona1 articles as the President may designate for said exposition, and for the installation of said exhibit, and for the employment of proper persons as officers and assistants to the United States Government board in the management of the Government exhibit in accordande with the provisions of "An Act to provide for celebrating V°l·31·P· 1442- the one hundredth anniversary or the purchase of the Louisiana territory by the United States by holding an international exhibition of arts, industries, manufacturesQ"and the products of the soil, mine, forest, and sea in the city of Saint Louis, in the State of Missouri," approved March third, nrneteeh hundred and one, eight hundred thousand dollars, to be immediately available: Provided, That all expend- m;u,’cw_ itures made for the purposes and from the a propriations specified herein, and the number, compensation, and sellaction of persons not alreadg in the Government service shall be under the direction of the . Unite States Government board and subject to the approval of the Secretary of the Treasury; and the appropriations herein made shall be so allotted and distributed amon the several Executive Departments, the Smithsonian Institution, Sie National Museum, the United States Fish ( bmmission, the Department of Labor, the Bureau of the American Republics, and the Library of Congress as to prevent any deficiency therein. The Secretary of the Interior is authorized to cause to be assembled I,,§§’,§’,§‘§§‘§’,§_},’§§§$ °f at the city of Saint Louis, in the State of Missouri, at such time and for such period as he may designate, and as a part of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition to be held at the city of Saint Louis, in the State of Missouri, pursuant to an Act of Congress entitled "An Act to provide for celebrating the one hundredth anniversary of the purchase of the Louisiana territory by the United States by olding an international exhibition of arts, manufactures, and the products of the soil, mine, forest, and sea in the city of Saint Louis in the State of Missouri," approved March third, nineteen hundred and one, such re re- W-$1. 1>-144¤· sentatives of the different Indian tribes and such exhibits from Indian agencies, schools, and archives as he may deem advisable or necessary to illustrate the t and present conditions of the Indians and the Indian tribes of thbSUnited States, and progress made by such in education, art, and industry, and the methods of education and government, and such other matters and things as will full illustrate Indian advancement in civilization, the details of which shall be in the discretion of the Secretary of the Interior. ,And for the purpose of carry- ing into effect this provision the sum of forty thousan dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated; but the Secretary of the Interior is prohibited from making, or causing to be made, any expenditure or creating any liability on behalf of the United States in excess of the sum hereby appropriated. _ That section fifteen of the Act above entitle . approved Mar·ch third, ,,xl{}{,‘§${’"l“* ’°""°“ nineteen hundred and one, shall be amended so as to read as follows: V°l· 3L P- 1**3- "‘That the Secretary of the Treasury is hereby authorized and directed Pm °‘ 10% to cause to be erected in connection with the exhibit of his Department, upon such grounds as shall be allotted for the purpose by the Louisiana Purchase`Exposition Company, a building for an exhibit of
