1868 Monnroanna CONVENTION—BOLIVIA. June 20.1001- Oonvention for the exchange of money orders between the United States
of North America and the Republic of Bolivia.
Prumble- _ The Post Office De rtment of the United States and the Postal Administration of the Bhpublic of Bolivia being desirous of establishing a system of exchange of ostal Money Orders between the two countries, the undersigned, Dr. Gnonon H. BBJDGMAN, for the United States of America, and Dr. Fnnnmoo Dmz DE Mnnnu for the Republic of Bolivia, duly authorized for that purpose, have agreed upon the foH0wing articles: _ ‘ Amman 1. .Excme¤ ¤f¤¤<>¤¤v There shall be a regular exchange of Money Orders between the two °’°°“ countries. _ Anmcmu II. umgmeh The amounts of Orders in both directions shall be expressed in United y' States money; and on account of the frequent fluctuations of the rate ‘ of exchange between the two countries, it is agreed that all amounts shall be converted into their proper equivalents by the Post Office Department of Bolivia; that is to say, the sums received b the postal administration of Bolivia for Orders drawn on the United States, shall be converted at the time of issue into United States money, at the current rate of exchange and the amounts of Orders drawn in the United States on Bolivia shall in like manner be rendered by the postal administration of Bolivia into the currency of Bolivia at the current rate of exchange on the day of the arrival of the list described in Article IX. Amicnn III. ¤¤*¤¤¤ ·¤¤>¤¤*— 1. The maximum of each Order is fixed at one hundred dollars ($100). 2. No Money Order shall include a fractional part of a cent. Aauonm IV. mggmeerg i¤ bw The amounts of Money Orders shall be deposited by the remitters y’and paid to the payees in gold coin, or in other legal money of the same current value. However, in case there should be in circulation in either country a paper currency of legal tender but of less value than gold, the Administration of that country shall have the right to receive and employ the same in its relations with the public taking into account the difference of value. .*\RTICLE V. The Bolivian Post Department shall have power to fix the rates of fees paid by the public on all Money Orders issued in Bolivia, and the Post Office Department of the United States shall have the same power in regard to all Money Orders issued in the United States.
