CHAP. 832 .-An Act To establish a branch h ome of the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers in one of the Northwest Pacific States . Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States o f Amer ica in C ongress a ssembled , That the Board of Managers of the Nat ional Home for Disabled Volunt eer Soldiers is hereby authorized and directed to acquire, by donation, a tract of land located in one of the Northwest Pacific States as a site for a branch home of the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers, to provide for the improvement of such site, and for the construction, equipment, operation, and maintenance thereon of suitabl e buildi ngs for the use o f such b ranch ho me . SEC. 2 . The sum of not to exceed $2,000,000 is hereby authorized to be appropriated to carry out the purposes of this Act . Approved, July 3, 1930 . July 3, 1930.

hereby authorized to be appropriated from the reclamation fund Vol. 32, p. 388. established by the Act of June 17, 1902 (Thirty-second Statutes, page 388), the sum of $750,000, or as much thereof as may be necessary to be used for the rehabilitation of the Bitter Root irrigation project in Montana . Purposes designated. SEC. 2. The Secretary of the Interior, hereinafter styled the Secretary, is authorized to use money thus appropriated for the following purposes (1) For . liquidating bonded and other outstanding indebtedness of such irrigation project on such basis of valuation as the Secretary may regard as equitable, not exceeding 75 per centum of the principal and accrued interest, no portion of such outstanding indebtedness to be liquidated except a total outstanding indebtedness of such project is so liquidated; (2) For doing or causing to be done under his supervision any construction, betterment, or repair work necessary to place the irriga- tion system of such project in good operating condition, and as pro- vided for in the contract hereinafter required; (3) Fo r loanin g to suc h irrigat ion dist rict, he reinafte r provide d for, such funds as in the opinion of the Secretary are necessary for any construction, betterment, or repair work to place the irrigation sy stem of such proj ect in g ood oper ating co ndition . SEC . 3 . All funds so used or advanced shall be repaid to the United States within a period, to be fixed by the Secretary, of not more than forty years, with interest at the rate of 4 per centum per annum on Contract to precede the funds so used or advanced from the date of such use or advance- lo an . ment until repaid . Before any funds are so used or advanced a con- tract or contracts satisfactory to the Secretary shall be executed by an irrigatio n district, formed under State law, obligating such district to repay the funds so used or advanced as required by this Act . Any contract so executed with such district shall require a lien on the land and on the irrigation systems of such project. The operation and mai ntenance of such project shall be continu ed by the authori ties in charge under the supervision of the Secretary, so far as necessary to effectuate the purposes of this Act . SEC . 4. In case of default in the payment when due of any interest or other charges under any contract executed as herein provided there
