S. C., title 41, sec. 5) when the aggr egate amount does not exceed $50 . For the payment of annuities to employees, representatives, widows, widowers, or dependent next of kin of employees, as pro- vided in sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Ra ilroad Retirement Act of 1935 (Act August 29, 1935, 49 Stats ., pp . 969-970), the unex pend ed balance of the appropriation for this purpose for the fiscal year 1937 is con tinued avail able f or the same purpos e for t he fis cal ye ar 1938 . RURAL ELECTRIFICATION ADMINISTRATION Salaries and expenses : For administrative expenses and expenses of studies, investig ations, p ublicatio ns, and reports n ecessary to carry out the provisions of the Rural Electrification Act of 1936, approved May 20, 1936, including the salary of the Administrator and other personal services in the District of Columbia and elsewhere ; traveling ex penses , incl uding expens es of attend ance of offic ers an d empl oyees at meetings when determined by the Administrator to be necessary in furthering the work of the Administration ; contract stenographic reporting services ; expert witness fees ; materials, supplies, equip- ment, and services ; rentals, including buildings and parts of build- ings and garages, in the District of Columbia and elsewhere ; pur- chase and exchange of books, law books, books of reference, direc- tories, a nd period icals ; not to exceed $200 for newspapers and p ress clippings ; financial and credit reports ; purchase, rental, exchange, operation, maintenance, and repair of ty pewriters, calculating machines, and othe r office appliance s ; a nd all ot her expen ses neces sary to administer said Act, $1,450,000 : Provided, That section 3709 of the Revised Statutes (U .
