75TH CONGRESS, 1sT SESSION-CH . 403-JUNE 29, 1937 For maintenance of the hospital ; for maintenance of the quaran- tine station, smallpox hospital, and public crematorium, including expenses incident to furnish ing proper container s for the reception, burial, and identification of the ashes of all human bodies of indigent persons that are cremated at the public crematorium and remain unclaimed after twelve months from the date of such cremation ; for maintenance and purchase of horses and horse-drawn vehicles ; for medical books, books of reference, and periodicals not to exceed $500 ; for maintenance of non-passen er-carrying motor vehicles ; and for all other necessary expenses, $20,000 . For repairs and improvements to buildings and grounds, $4,500 . Pu rchase of books, mus ical instru ments and music, exp ense of co m- mencement exercises, entertainments, and inspection by New York State Board of Regents, and other incidental expenses of the train- ing school for nurses, $600 . Me dical char ities : For care and treatment of indigent patients under contracts to be made by the Health Officer of the District of Colu mbia and ap prove d by the C ommis sioner s wit h the foll owing institutions and for not to exceed the following amounts, respectively Children's Hospital, $40,000 . Central Dispensary and Emergency Hospital $65,000 . Eastern Dispensary and Casualty Hospital, 40,000 . Washington Home for Incurables, $10,000 . Health Center : For the construction on the site of the Jones Elementary School at First and L Streets Northwest, of a building for a Health Center, including necessary fixed equipment therefor, $165,000, of which sum $7,000 shall be available for preparation of plans and specifications, administration and inspection, including the employme nt of pers onal servi ces withou t referenc e to the C lassifica- tion Act of 1923, as amended : Provi ded, That a ll building s belongin g to the D istrict of Columbia shall be u nder the j urisdictio n and con- trol of the Commissioners of said District . COUR TS JUVENILE COURT Sala ries : For p ersonal services, $6 5,800 . M isc ell an eou s : For com pensation of jurors, $2,000 . For fuel, ice, gas, laundry work, stationery, books of reference, periodicals, typewriters and repairs thereto, preservation of records, mops, brooms, and buckets, removal of ashes and refuse, telephone service, traveling expenses, meals of jurors and prisoners, repairs to courthouse and grounds, furniture, fixtures, and equipment, and other in cidental e xpenses no t otherwis e provided for, $3,1 50 . The disbursing officer of the District of Columbia is authorized to advan ce to the chief prob ation offi cer of the juvenile court upon requisition previously approved by the judge of the j uvenile co urt and the auditor of the District of Columbia, sums of money not to exceed $50 at any one time, to be expended for transportation and traveling expenses to secure the return of absconding probationers, and to be accoun ted for mo nthly on i temized vou chers to t he account - ing officer of the District of Co lumbia .
