Be it enacted, dec., That the several persons who purchased land in Title U, ,, tm, township numbered two, south of range numbered eleven west, in the of land com district of Vincennes, from the board of trustees for the Vincennes H'"‘°d‘ university, which was incorporated by an act of the legislature of the Indiana territory, entitled "An act to incorporate a university in the Indiana territory," passed the twenty-ninth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and six, be, and they are hereby, confirmed in their titles in fee simple, respectively. Be it enacted, nyc., That the proper accounting officers of the War To bg camper,- Department be, and they are hereby authorized and directed, to audit med M the and settle the claim of Samuel Manac, a friendly Creek Indian of the ?st;,`:§;;),l;yf°f half blood, for his property, which was destroyed by the hostile Creek Indians, in the late war, by ascertaining, or causing to be ascertained, the value thereof, in such manner, and upon such terms, as may be equitable and just. Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the amount thereof, when AP,,,.,p,;at;.,,,_ so ascertained, shall be paid to the said Samuel Manac, out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated. Be it enacted, Qc., That so much of the nett proceeds of the forfeit- Claim of r3_ 5_ ures and penalties, not exceeding fifty thousand dollars, as has accrued *0 ¤¤ ¤m°*%¤* to the United States by the condemnation and sale of the vessels and ;g0,3€g°igi¥,E their cargoes, which were taken near the island of Barrataria, on the quished in theirwestern coast of Louisiana, on the sixteenth day of September, one f‘“'°'"‘ thousand eight hundred and fourteen, by a land and naval force, under the command of Colonel George T. Ross and Captain Daniel T. Patterson, and which were condemned and sold by order of the district court of the United States for the Orleans district, for violation of laws of the United States, be, and the same are hereby given up and relinquished in favor of the said George T. Ross and Daniel T. Patterson, and of their officers and men, for their zeal, activity and courage, in capturing the same. And the Secretary of the Treasury is hereby authorized to pay to the said George T. Ross and Daniel T. Patterson, the amount of the said nett proceeds of the said sales, not exceeding filly thousand dollars, out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, to be distributed among the land and naval forces employed in the capture of the said vessels, in such proportions, and under such regulations, as the Secretaries of War and Navy, with the approbation of the president, shall prescribe and determine.
