include / noinclude

[edit]
  1. I agree with the reversion of my noinclude tag that excluded the title used on this page because it is substantively different from the title used on page 1.
  2. I do not think that the rule at the bottom should be transcluded to the mainspace as it provides nothing to the substance of the article and is exclusively a stylistic side effect of being published in a newspaper. That is an appropriate use of the footer field.
  3. I do not think that "Continued on page 3" and "Continued from page 1" should be transcluded to the mainspace either. These inclusions reduce the readability of the transcluded text.
  4. I added {{***}} to maintain separation between the picture caption and the title on this page. The separation here, unlike the final rule, positively contributes to the readability of the transcluded text.

Thanks for the notes above. Yes, you are right that the title of the second part should be kept as it is different from the first one. Generally, I agree with exclusion of "to be continued" and "continued from …" phrases, but in this particular case I decided to include them as they show that both parts were meant to constitute one article. Without them they look like two independent articles because of the two different titles. In other words, they give the reader some information which is not so obvious without them. You are also right that the rule at the bottom is a stylistic side effect published in a newspaper, but I do not see any reason, why such effects should not be included.
For the reasons above I am going to revert these changes.
Thanks very much for adding the {{ ***}} template, it was a good improvement, I have not noticed those dots under the image before. --Jan Kameníček (talk) 15:26, 1 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
