Although written in Greek as the Βίοι Παράλληλοι (Bíoi Parállēloi, "Parallel Lives"), the work was formerly more commonly referenced by its Latin translation Vitae (fully Vitae Parallelae). It is also known as The Lives of the Noble Grecians and Romans or Vitae Illustrium Virorum.
