Retaliation (1774)
by Oliver Goldsmith
First published in 1774, this transcription is of what is believed to be the 2nd edition, published the same year.
It includes a list of five 'errors', all but one of which have been corrected in the printed work.
There is a section containing notes, principally about the individuals who are the subjects of the various epitaphs in the work. These notes have been linked to their relevant points in the text.
All other editions of the work published by Kearsly during the period 1774 to 1777 include a vignette portrait of Goldsmith on the title page but it is missing from this edition. Whether this is a deliberate omission, a problem with the scan or an indication of problems with the provenance of the publication is not clear.
