Sir John Rotherham family and death[edit]

Sir John Rotherham was a member of the Rotherham family of Someries, Luton, Bedfordshire. He was son of Thomas Atwood Rotherham, son of Nicholas Rotherham, son of George Rotherham of Someries (1542-1599). He married Mary Fitzherbert at Luton in 1653 (Studham Parish Register 22 September 1653 (Beds and Luton CRO, 77 STU). The will of Elizabeth Fitzherbert (National Archives, PCC Prob 11/397, q124, 1689) refers to Mary her daughter the wife of John Rotherham of Much Waltham, confirming that this is the same John Rotherham. Sir John Rotherham died in Essex in 1607 (Register of St Mary and St Lawrence, Great Waltham, Essex, burial of Sir John Rotherham 10 January 1706/7.
