Some notes on where a scan might be obtained[edit]

In the hopes that it may be of use to others…

As the notes field in the text notes, this was first published in Pall Mall magazine, April 1895. There's a scan at Internet Archive identifier: https://archive.org/details/pallmallmagazin02unkngoog but it's of really poor quality, with missing illustrations (possibly masked out deliberately for copyright reasons, it's hard to tell). The National Library of Scotland claims to hold copies (and the few they've uploaded to IA are really high quality), and claims it's available online, but only links to a Robert Louis Stevens collection. Best bet is probably the Princeton scan on HathiTrust but it's limited access. The collections of Pall Mall in general also require a lot of copyright research to make sure they're Public Domain: some of the contributing authors and illustrators could very well be within pma. 70 of the UK URAA date (1 january 1996), but since this particular issue was published in 1895, even a theoretically restored US copyright would have expired in 1990. --Xover (talk) 12:37, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
