Talk:In Memoriam (Tennyson)

The poem is uncomplete; I'm having too much trouble formatting it properly and figure that there must be a better way than doing it by hand (it gets tiresome after a few minutes of adding ":" everywhere). Here[1] is the source for the Tennyson poems. If someone else knows how to format them automatically... Mikecapone 04:04, Jan 29, 2004 (UTC)

ER no actually, patience is a virtue. If you want to contribute something here YOU must do it. No use requesting help, your choice really, take the time to transcript or don't contribute, is my advice, if you really feel that Tennyson's poems are worth publishing on the web why expect anyone else to do it for you ? Your trip your choice, take a look at minor pieces by Sir Thomas Browne or quotations by him on Wikisource, these all took my time no-one elses and i would not dream of asking anyone to work on my contribution for me!!! as ever motivation and dedication are the key!!! Alternatively if they are in the public domain, why not cut and paste from site, but then why would one need to duplicate what is already available on the web, seems to me that Tennyson is already well-servved. Why not select something NOT available online for greater satisfaction195.10.45.233 09:07, 29 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Copy & Paste doesn't work because it loses the formatting; I have to add ":" before each line, or a break tag after each; I just figured that some guy who has rudimentary coding skills could make some kind of bash script that does it all automatically. I figure that my time is better used editing wikipedia than adding 5000 code tags by hand. MikeCapone 15:47, Jan 29, 2004 (UTC)
In most word processors one can do a "find and replace all" with a search for the "Return" character being replaced by a "Return" + ":" which will do most of the bulk formatting (In very large documents such as plays even this can be time consuming). Then one has to go through and format all chapter headings, odd transitions and such seperately, but even some of this can be done by "FInd and Replace" though usually not most of it. No chapter 75?[edit]

Is this right? I checked the link given above, and it is missing chapter 75 too? Another online version [2] just has 75 a repeat of the last four stanzas of 74. -- 146.115.58.152 05:53, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind, it looks like some html versions had merged these in strange ways. Split 74 and 75 based on a google books version. -- 146.115.58.152 06:01, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
