Talk:O Come All Ye Faithful
License
[edit]The Wikipedia entry for this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adeste_Fideles) identifies that the Latin lyrics are 18th century and the English are 19th century ... well within the US's pre-1923 rule. The author & translator died over 100 years ago, so EU Life+70 copyrights are also expired. Wouldn't that information be more informative than the canned-copyright-text that starts this article? —unsigned by 24.5.223.141 04:24, 25 December 2004.
- That seems to have been fixed by now, although my response is a little late. —{admin} Pathoschild 20:00:21, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Latin Lyrics
[edit]These were the Latin Lyrics I found. Not knowing Latin myself, I'm hesitant to replace what is already on the page.
- Adeste, fideles, laeti triumphantes;
- Venite, venite in Bethlehem.
- Natum videte Regem angelorum.
- Chorus:
- Venite adoremus, venite adoremus,
- Venite adoremus, Dominum.
- Deum de Deo, lumen de lumine,
- Parturit virgo mater,
- Deum verum, genitum, non factum.
- Chorus
- En grege relicto, humiles ad cunas
- Vocati pastores approperant:
- Et nos ovanti gradu festinemus.
- Chorus
- Stella duce, Magi Christum adorantes,
- Aurum, thus, et myrrham dant munera.
- Jesu infanti corda praebeamus.
- Chorus
- Aeterni Parrentis splendorem aeternum
- Velatum sub carne videbimus,
- Deum infantem, pannis involutem.
- Chorus
- Pro nobis egenum et foeno cubantem
- Piis foveamus amplexibus;
- Sic nos amantem quis non redamaret?
- Chorus

Oakley, W.T. Brooke, et al. Translation
[edit]This is a popular translation that had been displayed on this page before I made this a disambiguation. I intended to immediately proofread the closet version I could find at the current redlink, and to that purpose have uploaded Index:The English hymnal (1906).djvu. However there are some duplicate pages that need to be fixed in the source file before I can proceed any further. It is Hymn 614 in that book.--BirgitteSB 22:02, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
