ఇ i, The third letter in the Telngu alphabet.

ఇంచుక intsuka, acfy". Very little.

ఇంచుమించవు intsumintsavu, p. n> To be a little on either side of a certain limit, as regards quantit}- or time, ఇంచుమించుగా intsumintsu ga, On either side of a certain limit, as regards quantity, or time.

ఇండెబాయు in debayu, -y. ?i. To be cracked, or split.

ఇంత inta, An indeclinable adjective and substantive pronoun. So, many, so much, such. 2. This; as many as this, as much as this, such as this. It is the proximate of అంత anta, q. v. This word is some times used in the plural ; as ఇంతలుకన్నులు ewintalukannulu, Byes such as these. Mann Charitra. ఇంత లేసిపనులు intalesi panulu, So many great affairs as these. ఇంతే inte, This is all.

ఇంతి inti, s. A woman.

ఇంద inda, inter j. Come here. 2. Here it is ; hold. ఇందండి indancli, Is used honorificallyfor ఇంద inda.

ఇందనుక, ఇందాక indannka, indaka, adv. As far as this, until this time. 2. Just before this time. The proximate of &o-zr>g andaka, q. v.

ఇందఱు indarru, Indef. pro. So many. ఇందు inda, pro. Defective. This ; the proximate of అందు andu, q. v. ado. Here.

ఇందువారము indayaramu, & /if. The day of the moon. Monday.

ఇంద్రజాలము indrajakmir, 5. dag- gling. 2. Enchantment.

ఇంద్రుడు indrudu, 5. Indra, the deity presiding over Swarga, or the Hindoo paradise, and over the secondary divinities.

ఇగిలించు igilintsu, v. n. To grin, to shew the teeth. 2. To neigh. ఇగిలింపు igilimpn,A grin. 2. Neighing,

ఇగురు iguru, v. n. To be deep 2. To be evaporated, or dried Lip. ఇగరబెట్టు igarabotjn, To prepare rice with such a quantity of water as nearly evaporates by the time the rice is boiled.

ఇగురు iguru, 5. A sprout, or young leaf. 2. The gum. vide. చిగురు - ఇగురుగూర chiguru-igurugera, Curry, generally made of young vegeta- bles, without any tamarind juice in it. ఇగురుబోడి, ఇగురుబోణి igurubodi, iguruboni, A young woman, because she is compared to a tender leaf. ఇగుర్చు igurtsu, To bud, to sprout* to shoot forth. ఇగిర్పించు igirpintsu, To cause to bud, &c.

ఇగు iggu, v. a. To pull, to drag, to draw. ఇగ్గులాట iggulata, Mutual pulling. ఇగ్గులాడు igguladu, To pull mutually, to drag each other.

ఇచట itsata, a<&>. Here. It is the proximate of అచట astata. c. p.

ఇచ్చకము itstsatamu, 5. Flattery. 2. Coaxing, wheedling, cajoling, ఇచ్చకములాడు itstsakamaladu , To flatter, coax, wheedle, cajole, or allure.

ఇచ్చు itstsu, e; a. To give. I his verb is irregular in the infinitive, and 2d. Person of the affirmative imperative. In the former, it makes ఇవ్వ, ఇయ్య ivva, iyya, To 'give ; in the latter, ఇయ్యి ivyi, give thou, and ఇయ్యండి iyyand', give ye, ఇచ్చొట-ఇచ్చో, ఇచ్చోట itstsota-itstso, itstsota, adv. vide ఇచట itsata.

ఇచ్చ ichchha, a-. Wish, desire. 2. Love. 3. Will, pleasure. ఇచ్ఛయించు ichchhayintsu, To wish, desire, Or love. స్వేచ్ఛగా sweehchhaga, adv, A ccord ing to one's own pleasure ; at liberty.

ఇజాఫా idaapha, 5. Air increase or augmentation. 2. A surplus or profit.

ఇజారా idzara, s. An income of variable amount, rented for a fixed sum ; a farm ; a rent. ఇజారాదారుడు idzaradarudu, A renter or farmer, ఇజారాచేయు idzaracheyu, To rent or farm.

ఇజారు idzaru, 5. Long drawers, or trowsers ; such as are worn by Mussulmans, or Hindoo dancing women,

ఇజుగు idzugu, s. Distress, misfortune, trouble.

ఇట్టలము ittalamu, a$. Great.

ఇట్టి itti, adj. pro. Such ; like this. The proximate of అట్టి atti, q.v.

ఇట్టులు-ఇట్లా-ఇట్లాగు, ఇట్లు ittula-itla, itlagu, itlu, a<iy. Thus, in this manner ; so, in a manner such as this; the proximate of అట్లా alia, q. v.

ఇడియు idiyu, v. n. To be split or cracked. ఇడిసిపడు idisipadu, To fall to pieces. ఇడియగొట్టు idiyagottn, To demolish.

ఇడు idu, e>. «. To give. 2. To place or put. ఇడుకొను idukonu, To place for one's own use.

ఇడుము idumu, s. Difficulty; trouble; misfortune.

ఇడ్డెన iddena, 5. A c%ke made of flour, and boiled m steam.

ఇతఃపరము itahparamu, <%&>. Here- after.

ఇతడు itadu/pra He. Applied hono- riflcally. It is the proximate of అతడు atadu, q. v.

ఇతరము itaramu, aefc;. Other ; different.

ఇతిహాసము itihasamu, s. History; traditional accounts of former events; ancient legends,

ఇత్తడి ittadi, .?. Brass, a$. Brazen. ఇది idi, pro. She. 2. It. 3. This, the proximate of అది adi q. v. ఇదిగానుండు idiganumdu.

ఇద్దరు iddaru, The masc. and fern, of the neuter numeral రెండు rendu, Two, whether used as an adjective or substantive. When the. final vowel is lengthened, or pronounced with emphasis or when న్ను nnn, is added to this word, it denotes Both.

ఇద్దెస iddesa, adv. On th : sside; here.

ఇనాము inamu, s. A present or gift. 2. An. alienation by Government, to an individual, of the whole of the revenue payable to them from a denned portion of land.

ఇనుకు inuku, v. n. vide. ఇంకు inku.

ఇనుమడి mmnadi, adj. Double, two fold. ఇనుమడించు inumadintsu v. a. To double.

ఇనుమనమడు inumanamadu, 5. lit. A second grandson. A great grand" son. ఇనుమనమరాలు inumanamaraiu A great grand daughter.

ఇనుమాఱు inumarrn, adv. Twice.

ఇనుమిక్కిలి inumikkili, adv. Twice as much.

ఇనుము inumu, s. Iron, ఇనుప inupa, inflected adj. Iron. ఇనుపకుందులు inupakundulu, Iron pivots, placed in the wall, upon, which the hinges of a door or shutter turn.

ఇన్ని inni, adj. Collective, in the neuter gender. So many, as many as this. It is the proximate of అన్ని anni 'q. v.

ఇన్నూఱు irmurru, A numeral adj. or sub. Two hundred. When inflec- ted as a subs. It makes ఇన్నూటి innuti.

ఇప్పించు ippintsu, v. caus. To cause to give ; the causal form of ఇచ్చు itstsu, p. v.

ఇప్పుడు ippudu, adv. Now ; at this time. It is the proximate of అప్పుడు appndn,_p. v. and admits, like it, of inflexions ఇప్పటివాండ్లు ippativandlu. The people of these days. ఇప్పుడేవచ్చినాడు ippudevachchinadu, He is just come.

ఇబ్బంది ibbandi, 6*. Distress, calamity, dificulty. 2. A period of distress &c. 3. Ambiguity.

ఇబ్బందిగాడు ibbandigadu, s. A bear.

ఇబ్బడి ibbadi, adj. vide. ఇనుమడి inumadi.

ఇముడు imudu, v. w. To be held, contained, or comprized, within a certain limit of extent, or space of time. ఇముడ్చు iniudtsu, v. a. To hold, retain, or include, within a certain limit of extent or space of time. 2. To abridge, retrench, or abbreviate. ఇముడుకొను hnudukonu, To reserve within one's self.

ఇమ్మడి immadi, adj. vide ఇనుమడి inumadi.

ఇమ్ము immn, s. A house. 2. Favor, 3. A favorable conjuncture.

ఇయ్యకొను iyyakomi, v. a. To consent. ఇయ్యకొలుపు iyyakolupu v. cans. To cause to consent.

ఇరవు iravu, 5. A house, an abode

ఇరవొందు iravondu, v. a. To shine

ఇరసాలు irasalu, s. A remittance. « 

ఇరు iru, adj. Two. 2. Both. ఇరుగెలంకులు, ఇరుచక్కి iragelankulu, iru fcsakki, both sides. ఇరుగోరు irugoru, Both the Government and the inhabitants, share of the produce. ఇరుచాలుదుక్కి irutsaludukki, A e ploughed field.

ఇరుగు irugu, s. The neighbourhood, the vicinity, adj. Neighbouring, adjoining. ఇరుగుపొరుగు ifuguporuga, 8. Neighbours, adj. Neighbouring. The first part of this puraBe refers to those on the right hand or behind : the other to those on the left, or in front.

ఇలాకా ilaka, s. Depend en ce, relation, connexion, 2. Charge, possession,

ఇలుకు iluku, s. The cramp 2. A sprain నాకు ఇలుకుపట్టినది naka ilnkubatti- nadi, The cramp has seized me.

ఇల్లామల్లి illanialli, 5. A tell-tale. 2. Backbiting.

ఇల్లు illu, s. A house. This word is irregular in its inflexion.

ఇవతల ivatala, odo. This side. 2. He- reafter. 3. Nearer. The proximate of అవతల avatala, q> v.

ఇవము ivamu, $• Frost. ఇవముసూడు ivamusuduj The sun. fi^e ఇగము igamu.

ఇవురు ivuru, 5. A shoot or sprout.

ఇషీక ishika, *• A painter's brush. 2. A blade of grass. 3. A reed or pen.

ఇషు ishu, «;zde ఇటు, ఇషువంటి itii, ishu vanti, Like this, such as this.

ఇష్టము ishtamu, s. "Wish; desire,. 2- Pleasure ; will. 3. Love ; loudness. 4. An act of sacrifice ; an offering, adj. Beloved, fond of. 2. De- sired. 3. Agreeable. ఇష్టాగోష్ఠి isktagoshthi, An agreeable company, ఇష్టాలాపము ishtalapamu, Agreeable conversation.

ఇసుక isuka, s. Sand. adj. Sandy. ఇసుకతిన్నె, ఇసుకదిన్నె, ఇసుకదిబ్బ isuka tinr.e, isukadinne, isukadibba, A sand bank. 2. Hillocks of sand. 3. An island of alluvial formation. ఇసుకదొండు isukadon'u, A kind offish.

ఇసుమంత isumania, rvr/j. Small ; minute.

ఇసుళ్లు isullu, .<?. plu. A species of winged ant which flies to the light, generally in the evening, after rain. It is easily caught in swarms, and being deprived of its wings, is fried and eaten by the fc lower classes of Hindoos, who esteem it a delicacy. I believe it is the Termes in a particular state.

ఇహము ihamu, s.The present world; our present state or existence ; in oppostion to పరము paramu, A future state.

ఇక్ష్వాకుడు ikshvakudu, s. The first monarch in the line of Surya, or the sun, winch commenced with the second Yuga, or age of the Hindoos.
