LINZ, Amelie (1824-1904). A German author, born at Bamberg. She married an officer of engineers, and four years after his death (1870) settled at Munich. Her literary work, published under the name Amélie Godin, includes the novels: Eine Katastrophe (1862); Frauenliebe und Leben (1874); Gräfin Leonore (1882); Freudvoll und leidvoll (1883); and Dora Reval (1901); and several collections of fairy-tales, such as Märchen von einer Mutter erdacht (4th ed. 1860); Grosses Märchenbuch (4th ed. 1886); Märchenkranz (2d ed. 1896); and others.
