Prayer of the great Jordan

Mark Lidzbarski3807055Mandaïsche Liturgien — Prayer 181920Wikisource
XVIII.
In the name of life.

Pirjawis, the great Jordan of the first life,
which is all healings,
flames like splendor in the Tannā.

When the life flamed,
when the life rose by the great effulgence flaming in it,
the life rose
and founded a Škīnā above the Tannā.
The splendor heated up,
and the Tannā melted.
Water was created and arose,
and life found permanence in its own water.
It set up Jūr in Jür,
and life was glorified by its own splendor
and the great splendor that flames in it.
The life set up the life in the water.
Over the water the fruit blossomed up and settled the Škīnā.

Great Jordan of life!
I address you by the treasure of light,
the great support and rest of life,
by Jōšamīn,
the pure one who dwells by the treasures of water and the springs of light,
by Jōsmīr,
the man who was united with the water,
by Adatan and Jadatan
who sit at the gate of life and pray for spirits and souls at the place of light,

Šilmai and Nidbai who bear witness before the great first life:
look upon these souls who go
from collapse to construction,
from error to truth,
from the abodes of worship of the deity of the house to the great place of light.

If he to whom I speak
hears whom I call,
shows himself firm,
enters into communion with life
and allows himself to be built into the great edifice of truth,
I will be to him a helper, escort and guide to the great place of light and the shining abode.

If he to whom I speak
does not hear whom I call,
does not show himself firmly,
he will be called to account.
I will not be called to account for the sake of truthful speech and the raising of the Jōkabar-Zīwā.

Life stands firm in its Škīnā, life is victorious.
