Prayer 77

Hymn of praise for the Uthras

Mark Lidzbarski3807244Mandaïsche Liturgien — Prayer 771920Wikisource
LXXVII.
In the name of life.
You, Life, are to be praised, worshipped, glorified, blessed, the first life, the second life, the third life, Jōfin-Jōfafin, Sām, the well-kept Mānā, the vine that is all life, the great tree that is all healings.

To praise, to worship, to glorify, to bless
Oṣar-Hai and Ptā-Hai,
who create the creation of life,
plant the planting of light,
and found the first image in the house of life.
To praise, to worship, to glorify, to bless
Nbaṭ,
the first sprout, the outflow from life as its epithet.
To praise, to adore, to glorify, to bless
the Lord of the great, high fruit,
who blossomed and made to blossom
and created the great fruit for himself.
To praise, to worship, to glorify, to bless
Jō-kabar-Zīwā,
who was mighty in his splendor,
great in his light.
To praise, to worship, to glorify, to bless
Jō-zaṭaq Mandā d-Haijē,
the life that came from life,
the Kuštā, which was from time immemorial at the beginning, which was great in its splendor from the worlds of light.
To praise, to adore, to glorify, to bless
Has,
the container of splendor, splendor, light and glory.
1,000 times 1,000 are its shoots, 10,000 times 10,000 are its tendrils.
Hail to him who has seen that tree.
Bihrām, who saw it, received life, light, healing and endurance, and his name did not die.
To praise, to worship, to glorify, to bless
Ṣa-naṣēl
who stands at the gate of life and prays for the spirits and souls.
He shows silence, grants hope, and keeps the prayers of the spirits and souls of the true believing men at the place of light.
To praise, to adore, to glorify, to bless
Hai-jašum-Kuštā,
the messenger of life,
the word of the first men of proven righteousness,
who penetrated the worlds, came, split the firmament and revealed himself.
To praise, to worship, to glorify, to bless
Bhaq-Zīwā,
who is called "He acted and succeeded in his Škīnā".
To praise, to worship, to glorify, to bless
Jōkašar,
the container of splendor, who grants splendor and shows light.
To praise, to worship, to glorify, to bless
the valiant Birjawiš-Kannā.
The Kannā realized that he was great in his splendor.
To praise, to adore, to glorify, to bless
the ether, the pure vine,
which rests in the great, high treasure of light.
To praise, to worship, to glorify, to bless
Jōšamīn the pure one
who rests by the treasures of water and by the mighty springs of light.
To praise, to worship, to glorify, to bless
Taurēl-Uthra,
the man who rests by the concealment of water. From the little finger of his right separated and fell solidification in the Tibil, came consuming (fire) in the world of the lie.
To praise, to worship, to glorify, to bless
Adatan and Jadatan
who stand at the gate of life, praising and upholding life and praying for the spirits and souls of the true believing men at the place of life.
To praise, to worship, to glorify, to bless
Šilmai and Nidbai,
the two Uthras, the messengers of the Mandā d-Haijē.
Who, through the Kuštā, cause and effect life,
who, with the testimony of life, baptize the living, shining, bright, resplendent souls
who go to the Jordan with Kuštā, not in the name of idolatry and Christ.
To praise, to worship, to glorify, to bless
Šum-Hai, Rhum-Hai, Īn-Hai, Zamar-Hai,
the 4 men, the sons of salvation,
who meet the truthful, believing men and bring them under the bands and ? the hands of the wicked,
under the nails of the (evil) plotting men,
and lift them up to the great place of light and the shining dwelling place,
fit them into fellowship with life,
and build them into the great structure of truth.
To praise, to worship, to glorify, to bless
Hibil, Šitil and Anōš,
the sons of the living, shining, resplendent, light tribe,
the men who were not carried away by the sword,
were not burned by the fires of fire,
were not washed away by the floods of water,
whose shoestrings on their feet were not wetted by the water.
They fought a legal battle and won whether, searched and found, ran and arrived at the great place of light and the shining dwelling.
To praise, to worship, to glorify, to bless
the Uthras Ṣihiūn, Pardūn and Kanfūn,
whose name is each separately in the house of life,
the Uthras Adam the Hidden, Bihrām and Rām the Great,
whose name is each separately in the house of life, whose epithets are two.
Also the name of the true believing men
was established in the place of light.

Your name shines,
your name is bright,
your name is pleasant,
your name is established,
your name is victorious,
and victorious are the words of the Kuštā,
which come out of your mouth, over all works.

Make victorious and strengthen this my soul of the NN,
and life is victorious over all works.
