One Should not Move Things From Yard to Yard on Hol Hamoed |
שלא לפנות מחצר לחצר בחל המועד |

Paragraph 1 - One may not remove his things from yard to yard, even from a bad one to a nice one. One may not remove his things from his dwelling or move things that are not being moved for a holiday need. Rem"a: How much more so is it prohibited to move one's money from city to city (Mordechai chapter "Mi sheHafach"). However, one can remove things from house to house within one yard. If the houses open to an alley and not to a yard, there are some who say that he may move things between adjacent houses. Rem"a: If he fears for theft in the yard in which he lives, he can move even from his yard to a protected yard. Even moving things from city to city is permitted when there is potential loss (Hagahot Ashri and Mordechai). |
סעיף א - אין מפנין מחצר לחצר, אפלו מכעורה לנאה, ולא לפנות דירתו ולא לפנות כליו שאינם לצרך המועד. הגה: וכל שכן שאסור להסיע ממונו מעיר לעיר (מרדכי פרק מי שהפך), אבל מפנה הוא מבית לבית באותה חצר. ואם אין הבתים פתוחים לחצר אלא למבוי, יש אומרים שמבית לבית הסמוך לו מתר. הגה: ואם מתירא מחמת גנבה בחצר שדר שם, מתר אפלו מחצר לחצר המשתמר, ואפלו מעיר לעיר בדבר האבד שרי (הגהות אשירי ומרדכי). |

Paragraph 3 - It is forbidden to remove manure in the yard. Rather, it should be moved to the sides. If there is so much of it that the yard has become like a stable, it can be removed to the dunghill. |
סעיף ג - הזבל שבחצר אסור להוציא אלא יסלקנו לצדדים. ואם נתרבה עד שנעשה חצר כרפת, מוציאין אותו לאשפה. |
