Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim 560

To make a commemoration for the Churban {Destruction of the Temple and jerusalem}	לעשות זכר לחורבן
560:1 Once the holy Temple was destroyed, the sages of that generation declared that we should never build a building that is completely plastered and rendered like the [style of] buildings of kings, rather one plasters his house with plaster, and renders it with a coating, and leaves a space of one Ammah {45cm} by one Ammah adjacent to the entrance without coating. [But] one who purchases a yard that is [already] completely plastered and rendered (meaning fully painted) this is in it's pre-existing state, and we don't obligate him to peel the walls.	סעיף א משחרב בית המקדש, תקנו חכמים שהיו באותו הדור שאין בונים לעולם בניין מסוייד ומכוייר כבניין המלכים, אלא טח ביתו בטיט וסד בסיד, ומשייר מקום אמה על אמה כנגד הפתח בלא סיד. והלוקח חצר מסויידת ומכויירת (פירוש מצויירת) הרי זו בחזקתה, ואין מחייבים אותו לקלוף בכותלים.
560:2 Similarly they declared that one who sets a table to make a meal for guests, should make it a little incomplete and leave a space empty without a plate from the plates which would have been fitting to place there. And when a woman makes a piece of jewelery of silver and gold, she should leave behind a charm from the charms that are normal for them, in order that the piece not be complete. And when a groom marries a woman, he takes burned up ash, and places it on his head in the place of laying "Te-fi-lin". Rema Note: There are place which have the custom to break a glass at the time of the "Chu-pah", or to place a black kerchief, or other items of mourning on the head of the groom. And all of these things, are in order to remember Jerusalem, as it says (Tehilim 137:5-6) "If I forget you Jerusalem ...", "If I do not raise Jerusalem to the head of my festivities"	סעיף ב וכן התקינו שהעורך שולחן לעשות סעודה לאורחים, מחסר ממנו מעט ומניח מקום פנוי בלא קערה מן הקערות הראויות לתת שם. וכשהאשה עושה תכשיטי הכסף והזהב, משיירת מין ממיני התכשיט שנוהגת בהם, כדי שלא יהיה תכשיט שלם. וכשהחתן נושא אשה, לוקח אפר מקלה ונותן בראשו במקום הנחת תפילין. הגה: ויש מקומות שנהגו לשבר כוס בשעת חופה, או לשום מפה שחורה או שאר דברי אבילות בראש החתן. וכל אלה הדברים, כדי לזכור את ירושלים, שנאמר: "אם אשכחך ירושלים" וגו', "אם לא אעלה את ירושלים על ראש שמחתי".
560:3 Similarly the decreed not to play [music] with instruments, and musical devices, and all things that make music to rejoice with them. Rema Note:There are those who say, [the prohibition is] specifically for those whom they regularly play them, like for kings who stand and rest to instruments or in the house of a feast. (Tur) It is forbidden to make them heard because of the destruction, and even song by mouth over wine is forbidden, as it says: "In song one may not drink wine" (Isiah 24:9). And all of Israel is already accustomed to saying words of praise or songs of thanks and remembering the goodnes of the holy one blessed be he over wine. Rema Note: Similarly for the need of a Mitzvah, like for house of a Groom and Bride, all this is permitted. (Tosefot, Smug, and Hagehot Maymoni)	סעיף ג וכן גזרו שלא לנגן בכלי שיר וכל מיני זמר וכל משמיעי קול של שיר לשמח בהם: הגה: ויש אומרים, דווקא מי שרגיל בהם, כגון המלכים שעומדים ושוכבים בכלי שיר או בבית המשתה (טור). ואסור לשומעם, מפני החורבן. ואפילו שיר בפה על היין אסורה, שנאמר: "בשיר לא ישתו יין". וכבר נהגו כל ישראל לומר דברי תשבחות או שיר של הודאות וזכרון חסדי הקדוש ברוך הוא על היין. *הגה: וכן לצורך מצווה, כגון בבית חתן וכלה, הכל שרי (תוספות וסמ"ג והגהות מיימוני).
560:4 Similarly they decreed on the crowns of grooms that they should not be placed [on their heads] at all, and that the groom should not place any form of headdress on his head, as it says "cast off the turban and lift up the crown" (Yechezkel 21:31). And similarly they decreed on the crowns of a bride, if it is [made of] silver. But if it is made of [metal] wiring it is permitted for a bride. And [it is forbidden] specifically for a bride, but regarding all other men and women they did not decree.	סעיף ד וכן גזרו על עטרות חתנים שלא להניח כלל, ושלא יניח החתן בראשו שום כליל, שנאמר: "הסיר המצנפת והרים העטרה". וכן גזרו על עטרות הכלה, אם היא של כסף. אבל של גדיל מותר לכלה. ודווקא לחתן וכלה, אבל בשאר כל אנשים ונשים לא גזרו..
560:5 It is forbidden for a man to fill his mouth with levity in this world.	סעיף ה אסור לאדם שימלא פיו שחוק בעולם הזה.
