What to do when it rains so much that it destroys the soil |
אם נתרבו הגשמים עד שמטשטשים הקרקע, איך מתנהגים |
577:1[edit]In any place, if an excess of rain is destroying the ground and hindering harvest, we blast the shofar and request mercy. If it all happens fast and there is no time to blast in the established order of other fasts, no fast is imposed on the public, because they can't fast every day. Instead, blasts are sounded each day and in each prayer service, and verbal blasting is sufficient. If individuals want to fast, they are authorized to, with verbal blasting, which is saying the prayer "Answer us our Father, answer us!" They say "May it be your will God, our God and the God of our ancestors, that Your mercy conquer Your anger. Let Your mercy prevail over Your traits. Act with Your children using the trait of mercy. Deal with them more leniently than the letter of the law. In Your great goodness, have mercy on us, as every disaster that comes to the world comes for the sake of Israel, who is Your nation and inheritance that You took out of Egypt. They are unable to accept neither an excess of bad nor an excess of good. When You bring upon them an excess of good, they are unable to accept it. When You are angry with them, they are unable to accept it. May it be Your will that there be relief to the world, and remember Your mercy. |
סעיף א בכל מקום אם רב גשמים מטשטשים הקרקע ומונעים המחרשה, מתריעים ומבקשים רחמים. ואם הענין נחפז ואין פנאי להתריע כסדר שאר תעניות, אין גוזרין בו תענית על הצבור, שאין הצבור יכולים להתענות בכל יום, אלא מתריעין בכל יום ובכל תפלה, ובהתרעה בפה די. ואם היחידים רוצים להתענות, רשאים הם בכך, ובהתרעת הפה, דהינו בעננו אבינו עננו אומר יהי רצון מלפניך ה' אלהינו ואלהי אבותינו שיכבשו רחמיך את כעסך ויגלו רחמיך על מדותיך ותתנהג עם בניך במדת רחמים ותכנס להם לפנים משורת הדין ובטובך הגדול רחם עליהם, שאין פרענות בא לעולם אלא בשביל ישראל, והם עמך ונחלתך אשר הוצאת מארץ מצרים, ואינם יכולים לקבל לא רב רעה ולא רב טובה, השפעת עליהם רב טובה אינם יכולים לקבל, כעסת עליהם אינם יכולים לקבל, יהי רצון שיהא רוח בעולם וזכר רחמיך.
