The following is a list of lost films which have entered the public domain. A lost film is a film with no known surviving copies left in existence.

We will also include in this list films that are basically lost, since they are not viewable by the general public. If the status of a film's survival is not found after careful research, it should hereby be assumed lost, until proven otherwise.

This list will also include films (as in physical films reels) that are kept in physical archives only, and not apparently digitized, as these are not generally viewable by the public and are subject to degradation over time as they sit in those cellars for so long. They also have a somewhat low likelihood of ever being digitized and made publicly available, as the types of archivists who keep films in such ways tend to like to keep those films only viewable specifically to academics studying film, or for their own amusement.

If any film in this list does become publicly available since it was added, it should be removed from this list and moved to Not uploaded to Commons to await uploading or Uploaded to Commons to await transcription.
