  • From Your Cabin in the Woods: "Author Conrad E. Meinecke (born 18?? in Wisconsin, died 1971, Springville, New York) was an individual who by modern standards would be called a social worker by profession or a community organizer, a calling reflected in the tone of the book as it gently urges the reader to examine and plan for his future. He was the director of the Boys' Home of the Buffalo Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (later the Queen City Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and then the Children's Aid and Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children of Erie County, New York) and previously the director of men and boys' work at Westminster House social settlement, a project of the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Buffalo. For several decades he was a leading figure in the Boy Scouts of America."
