• Based on the Wikipedia entry for Esther Wood, a search of FreeBMD.org, Familysearch.org and Ancestry.com suggests that her birth name was Esther Jane Walker. There is no birth registration that I can find that is wholly consistent with other information (registration wasn't compulsory at the time). There is a baptism record giving a christening date of 19 Jun 1867, but not a birth date, with parents' names given as Henry and Jane. Census records give her birthplace as London (or some part thereof). Census entries for her in 1871, 1881 and 1891 (aged 4, 14 and 24 respectively) give an estimated birth year of 1866. She was living in London with her parents Henry and Jane in each case. Based on the available information my best estimate is that she was born sometime in the first three months of 1867. She appears to be an only child, her mother being comparatively old (for the time) when she had her.

• There is a marriage record {1893 Q3, Paddington, 1a, 168) for her and on the same page is George William Wood. There are census entries for an Esther Wood, aged 34 and 44 in 1901 and 1911 respectively, the latter giving her occupation as 'Journalist and Author'. In both these instances she is the sole occupant, which is consistent with the divorce date given in the Wikipedia entry.

• Most of the records referred to above relate to the Paddington registration district. There is a prospective death record for her (location and age are consistent) of 1938, Q3, Paddington, 1a, 59, aged 71. I have not found a record of her will.

@ChrisGuise: One possibly suspect that author:Esther Wood and Esther Jane Wood are the same person. Both operating in the same time and space of London, and publishing under Esther Wood.
