I suspect that this is James Ralfe (c.1777-4 July 1863, Winchester) solicitor who was Steward of Winchester College from 1813 to 1863.


Son of Reverend William Ralfe (see "Ralfe, William," in Alumni Oxonienses: the Members of the University of Oxford, 1715-1886, by Joseph Foster, London: Parker and Co. (1888–1892) in 4 vols.)

  • Articles of clerkship by father with Robert Serle, Attorney in Winchester, His Majesty's Court of King's Bench at Westminster; indenture for 5 years.
  • 23 Mar 1801 • Holborn London St. Thomas, Winchester St. T. Winchester, Hampshire, England to Elizabeth Tredgold, she died 1829 Southampton
